Re: student ticket sales
A portion of the student fees already go to athletics - that's why their tickets are discounted in the first place. What BCS-level football school offers free student tickets? I don't know of one.
If we have to let all students in free just to attract a crowd, like UNI and others, then we don't belong in the FBS anyway.

I know its not a miscellaneous fee so I'd be curious to know how much goes to athletics. I've never seen it listed on the Statement of Cash Flows either...

If they put charges on your bill like a $100 health charge (Never used health center) and a charge for rec services (use free AMAF membership), an athletic fee should be no problem. Should make fees up to the discretion of what you choose to use.

Re: student ticket sales
Looks like they are trying another e-mail. Just got this..
Football Student Season Tickets Are Still On Sale
Football student season tickets are still available for only $125 for seven home games, that's only $18 a game. We have some great home match ups including, UNI, Utah and Nebraska. You can purchase your tickets here.
If you have already purchased your season tickets:
Student ticket pick up is now through Sept. 1 (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m) at the Jacobson Athletic Building atrium located on the north side of Jack Trice Stadium (1800 South 4th Street).
Students can pick up their student football tickets the day of the first game (Sept. 2) at the ticket trailer located outside gate 1 on the NE corner of Jack Trice Stadium.
Your ISUCard is required for ticket pick up.
Note, ticket pick up lines are generally much shorter in the morning
It links to the cyclones.com ticketmaster site, btw.

Re: student ticket sales
Could the reason be because we don't play Iowa at JTS this year?

Re: student ticket sales
students/faculty/staff should get $10 tickets in a section or separate sections between the 20's. they are the university afterall.
I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all. -

Why isn't this being mentioned more? I knew many people who did this very same thing after graduation (when was the last time they changed the design of the student ID??)
Unless you buy into some sort of "breaking-point" argument, neither the economic situation or higher student tuition/fees really would have caused such a huge drop-off in student ticket sales. The economy was bad last year as well, and tuition/fees have gone up in the past. It's probably a factor for some students, but I don't think it reasonably explains the huge difference in ticket sales.
However, what would explain such a difference is if the electronic scanning system deterred a bunch of people who normally obtained student tickets without a current ISU card (or even current students who wanted to split a season ticket with friends, or sell some of the tickets, etc).

I don't know how true this is since I don't have an athletics line-item on my UBill. However, if we assume that your fee claim is true, it's still a pathetic situation that the "discounted" student price (and I use "discounted" in quotes because the discount is then subsidized by an expense paid by the student) is more than the cost for hillside tickets available to John Q. Public.

I mean, if they get there early enough, students have seats that people on the west side are paying $350 a ticket for plus $100 to $500 donation. I guess that you could say that the hillside people could sneak into the student section, but anyone can do that.

Public. I read this in the Iowa State catalog: Activity, Services, and Building
The activity, services and building fee is a mandatory fee that supports a variety of activities and services for all students. It is not based on whether or not a student participates in an individual activity or uses a service. This fee provides several benefits, such as student admission rates to concerts and athletic events, and unlimited use of CyRide, the Ames bus system. In addition, the fee provides support for campus recreational facilities, the Memorial Union, and campus organizations and services as allocated by the Government of the Student Body.
