Why doesn't ISU have a good web marketing and multi-media
I just went to the UI's site, Iowa Hawkeye Football because I was looking at their schedule, and that site blows anything ISU has out of the water. The flash and media is well produced, I wish ISU would step it up a bit.
With all the computer science majors and A/V geeks at ISU, why don't we have BETTER media and web presence than our in state rivals?
I'm surprised ISU (AD JP) hasn't hired some web media experts to step up the presence and "feel" of ISU athletics.

That's not Iowa's official site, this is... University of Iowa Official Athletic Site -
Re: Why doesn't ISU have a good web marketing and multi-media
I saw these two sites earlier this year: LSU Tigers Football || Alabama Crimson Tide Football : Roll Tide ||
They are both pretty awesome too

Iowa's official site hawkeyesports.com actually sucks compared to cyclones.com. Cyclones.com might be one of the best run sites in college sports and is very easy to navigate, and the video production is solid.
Training camp and game day central pages are my favorites.

Cyclones.com is one of the best sites in the country in that genre, without question.

Gohawks.com may look flashy, but it sucks. Too much going on as far as the towels and the constant flashes, and takes too long for the site to load anything.

I don't check out other sites, so can't speak to the comparison topic. I would, however, like a much better mobile site to use on my phone. No Blackberry or Droid (yet), just a phone with web access. The ISU mobile site is pretty plain and boring, but the true web version takes forever to load on my phone, and even then doesn't allow me to see much.

I'm surprised ISU (AD JP) hasn't hired some web media experts to step up the presence and "feel" of ISU athletics. Flash sites like this are generally "looked down upon" by web experts. They are resource-intensive, and the older the computer the more problems it will have running it. And while you don't necessarily want your site to look like a 3rd grader designed it, that site, the whole 5 seconds I spent on it, was extremely distracting in terms of noise and flashiness.

I have seen a lot of other schools that have sport sites like this that the sport staff has more control over. They use them for recruiting. Kids love that stuff. The flash, loud, everything a 15-18yr old loves. K-State had (not sure if they still do) a couple of sites for MBB and FB that were pretty good. Not sure if ISU has one or not.

Did their sites have videos from Willie the Wildcat? Those would wow many a recruit.
