Wrong Type of Offense For a Program Like ISU

Maybe Park has slightly more 'arm talent' than your average QB...maybe. But 1st round draft pick Josh Freeman throwing to 2nd round draft pick Jordy Nelson went 5-7 at a program like K-State under Ron Prince. However, I've seen totally arm talentless QB's succeed in the right system...

Isu wants to be a running team they just don't have the talent up front for it

We already don't run with DM. Not running with Lanning wouldn't help.

We don't have a good Oline, and the coaches also sucked tonight. How bad were the first three defenses?

This wasn't our normal offense tonight. Not sure what it was, but it definitely wasn't what we usually do. No screens, no runs. We just tried to force the ball downfield all night. It was like the staff was overwhelmed and didnt watch what was happening in the field. They decided our only chance to win was big plays downfield and to hell with everything else.

I mean seriously, did anyone else feel like we weren't willing to take a 3 or 4 yard gain and sustain a drive? It was 10 yards plus or bust on every play.

We aren't running well because we aren't pulling OL's. We can't pull OL's because our offense is based on RPO's. If you pull on an RPO and the QB keeps the ball to pass, he will have an LB in his earhole. Watch the films. Seriously watch what we do in LanRam. 11 vs 11, pull guard and RB through the hole.

ISU's O-line for the 2nd year in a row was NO match for Texas' d-line.
Texas showed enough fronts tonight that weren't packed with a lot of guys in the box that ISU should have run more.

Our O-line wasn't good enough tonight
Our QB wasn't good enough tonight
Our OC wasn't good enough tonight

With all that said, they lost by 10 damn points. Texas has some skeleton crew qualities about their offense, but ISU's D practically lived on the field tonight, and held up pretty good. Outside of OU, and TCU, Texas is probably the best or least favorable defense that ISU will face this year.

It's his fault he was running for his life half the time he dropped back?
Actually yes. He scrambled way to much and didn't need to. Announcers pointed this out and obviously the coaches did as well because it stopped in the 2nd half. He also threw 3 interceptions, and each one was 100% his fault.

It's not about Jacob Park. He might be doing great at Georgia right now. But a QB who was good enough to get drafted in the 1st round like Josh Freeman was not successful at a program like K-State.

Ah hell, why even try to make these points. Iowa State fans have excused and normalized losing for the past 130 years. While Bill Snyder has won 9+ games in a tumbleweed, cowtown in 14 times in his last 22 seasons.

We haven't has an RB get an NFL carry since 1999. I don't believe we have ever had a WR catch an NFL pass. Even Jacob Park is a rarity for ISU. So when Park, Montgomery, and Lazard are gone, good luck running this deep RPO crap with the Jared Barnetts, Devondrick Nealys, and Darius Darks of the world.

But let's keep excusing and normalizing losing for 130 more years. It's just sad that Joel Lanning would go 9-3 at K-State and Dana Dimel as our OC with Lanning at QB would go 8-4.

Manning is overblown as anything. Park saw the longhorn logo and crapped his undies. Pathetic display by the offense - it was offensive! CMC spouts crap about process and culture - try winning some damn games and keep your philosophy lingo to yourself! Excuses are tiring and your team was not ready and your coaches blew all night. Defense showed up to save bacon - try a field goal when inside the 40! Innovative enough? Charlie Brown football - always a drop shoe nutpunch with this team.
