Haven’t read any of this thread, but the first school the Big 12 should call is Oregon IMO.

If we add Oregon, the conference isn’t going anywhere. They provide a ton of stability.

And Iowa state should call the Big 10.

For ****’s sake Oregon isn’t joining the Big 12. Like I said above, they’d join the ACC before they join us.

Our realistic options are the pac 12 rejects.

Not exactly sure.
This news is just the first blow for the pac 12. It'll soften up the rest of the schools to make moves. The weird thing about the big 12 stuff last year is, not having more schools the SEC wanted helped unify the leftovers and kept the league alive. We were also able to move quick bc we had been researching expansion for years.

The pac would likely be caught even more with their pants down than the big 12. Schools with options are going to be more jumpy, leaving their leftovers with more uncertainty. They are also last to pick from expansion candidates. If any g5 were worth taking, they'd be in the big 12. There may be a couple options but nothing like the 3 or 4 teams they'll need.
PAC 12 has been looking, don’t fool yourself.

ACC had to be ticked, big 10 flat out lied to them.

Honestly, if this is how it ends up with the B1G at 20, I'd take the scraps of Stanford, Cal, Oregon, OSU, Washington, Wazzu.

Honestly, he’s not even mentioning the main pac 13 leftovers. THEY ARE NOT AN OPTION FOR THE BIG 12.

Colorado, the lessor Arizona school, Utah, Washington state and Oregon State are the options.

I think it’s without saying that is the first call anybody and everybody makes. The question would be, why would they do it? They could have their pick of SEC or Big 10 and fit much better given their financial and athletic ceiling being so high. Unless they really want to go into a conference as the true alpha, the Big 12 doesn’t make a ton of sense outside of potentially retaining some regional foes if we expand Westward.

For those who have said 'why take colorado back' or similar, remember that they made their move rather quickly in order to secure their spot when several teams were discussing a move to the PAC. IIRC it was Texas A&M, and Tech as a package deal at the time, and there were rumblings that Baylor (with texas politics) might maneuver to get brought with instead of Colorado.

Probably important to mention that the Big 12 doesn't have a media deal to attract anyone at this point, much like the Pac 12. I have no idea how that shakes out now.

We take Colorado back because they are the only option.

I mean that too, but there are some coming at it from a perspective of 'they betrayed us', when they were just playing for their lives not wanting to be put in the same situation that we would have been if doomsday had happened back then.

The very well connected people saying “The B1G isn’t done” are telling you that the B1G is waiting for Washington and Oregon to call them because their lawyers said it’s better to have them initiate it that way. Only open question is if the B1G also would take Cal and Stanford IMO. McMurphy saying the B12 could move on Arizona, ASU, Utah, Colorado (no mention of the others) is a good hint that he knows this but it’s not done yet.
