- 01-02-2009 12:18 AM - permalinkornryactorYeah, I dance in Dub H at ISU. One of my dances last semester was Cool Kids; never heard them before then. I didn't like it at first, but the music really grew on me, and I like it a lot now. The dance was A Little Bit Cooler / Gold and a Pager / 88. Hip hop and the new techno-pop genre (Justin Timberlake, Akon, Rihanna, and the like) are my favorite music; I'm a percussionist, so I love hard-hitting rhythmic stuff. Cool Kids is rather off that beaten track, but I like it a lot.
- 12-23-2008 10:45 PM - permalinkCRcyclone6i didn't understand your reply to me about Walters. I listened to the game on the radio, and you could tell he was not impressed with the effort tonight.
- My summer's still up in the air. There's a service learning trip to Honduras that I'm interested in, but more and more I'm worrying about the money and think I might pass. And obviously that would only push my timeline for work further back to the start of July. I'm looking into a couple of departments at OU to see if I could work there, but if not I'm sure I could set something up here at ISU or at another institution.
That's nice that you won't be traveling nearly as much now. I'm sure you love getting to spend time here, and I'm sure the hubby feels the same (hopefully)
Speaking of travel, I've decided that I'll never be able to live much further south than this. I just love the winter weather and snow too much, as crazy as that sounds. Yeah, so I guess I'm not thinking like a football recruit, but I'm destined to be a northerner! - The worst thing about going until mid-June is finding summer work/internship because most other institutions have been done for a month, but I'm sure I'll work something out.
Full-time status is still 12 credits, so most of my classes are four credits (with a couple two-credit half-quarter classes). Basically I end up taking more classes than people in semesters, but have less depth in each. I like it though, keeps the classes productive and makes sure the important ideas are conveyed.
I was going to ask if the promotion had changed the amount you're traveling, because it sounded like you did an awful lot! Good to hear you get to spend more time around scenic Iowa instead ;)
Again, it's really this Flavor of the Day coach thing that kills me. GILL! NO, NORVELL! IT'S FREAKIN' STOOPS! Oh well, the fun of the digital era! - Whenever I am in situations where things start to get heated I usually start saying Anarchy! Anarchy! to liven things up a little. It usually does, or at least gets people laughing. Either way I am entertained.
Yes I act like a ten year old. - Instead of two 16-week semesters, I have three 11-week quarters. Fall went from early September to mid-November; Winter will go early January to mid-March; Fall goes from the end of March to mid-June. So I don't get out until super late, but the long break is nice.
I basically take three classes a quarter which typically meet once a week for three hours. Then on top of that I've got my 20 hr/wk assistantship, and am required to take three 10 hr/wk practicums at some point. It was a little hectic at times, but definitely never needed to pull an all-nighter so nothing too bad!
Congratulations on the promotion! Are you doing any sort of new work or is it mainly a change in the amount you have?
And yes, people here are crazy. I thought about staying off the site until we have a new coach, but then I'd truly have nothing to do. I just enjoy the thought process behind everything and tracking the "flavor of the day" candidates that people are campaigning for. ;-) - School's been going really well. I didn't find the classes all that much more difficult than some of my undergrad courses, and I find the material a lot more interesting on the whole, so that's good.
I think I'd mentioned it before, but Ohio is on quarters so I've got a really weird schedule with a crazy long winter break. I've been back in Ames since before Thanksgiving, relaxing and hanging with the townies and catching up on music. I'm headed back right after Christmas for a meeting and to prepare for teaching a freshman seminar class next quarter.
How's everything been going for you? It seems like I haven't seen you posting as much, but maybe that's because CycloneFanatic is in a true meltdown mode I've never seen before. Did people honestly believe we'd hire a coach over the weekend? It seems they think this process is taking too long. Whatever! Hope you're doing well! - Hope you're preparing your favorites albums of 2008 list! I'm catching up on a few more albums, and then start a thread and pester you until you provide your input!
