    People give up all the time. Doesn't have to be total, just a small lack of confidence in a tense spot. That's what makes those guys that labor all the way through on the backside so damned impressive. They could let up and they don't.

    As to the coaches' advice, the only thing I've noticed is the "always take bottom" mentality. Just stubborn, probably. The 3 point take down changes that calculation even more.

    My 2 cents: the loud, aggressive coaches need to be T'd up: Assess team point penalties, have them kicked from the sidelines, etc. If loudmouth coaches are intimidating the refs, the answer is NOT to ask the sane coaches to act like lunatics as well.     The only NFL player that I've ever felt to have held up a team seemingly on his own (without any other star power) was Barry Sanders. Everyone else that had elite success had at least some elite talent around them.
