Yonger already has 6 top 10 wins..he'd have at least 2-3 more if he wins NCAA..he has a RIDICULOUS TD ratio..a great major bonus percentage, esepecially for a HWT..I think he would have a very good case to be the Hodge winner- SimpsonCyclone

We should just make State an open tournament then. If you sign up, you're a state qualifier. That is essentially what it is at some districts. Some weights at Districts have like 4 kids and 3 of them make it to State. kid with a 21-20 record at 106 or 113 in 1A has probably over half of those...- SimpsonCyclone

My main takeaway from State this year (past couple years actually, but specifically this year)...Iowa needs 1 class, 32 person brackets for each weight. One true state champ. My guess is someone takes a redshirt and beefs up to 165. I don't think CC is a big enough to be an effective 165. Agree though that we need 125, 197, and probably a 165 next year. Quite the opposite in my view. I would be more surprised to NOT see him there. I would be disappointed in our program and our staff to see us ostracize the kid instead of having his back through this. Why is it always such a secret who we are recruiting in wrestling compared to other sports? I get the limited scholarships thing but that is being discussed between athlete and other coaches anyways and wouldn't matter if being recruited is talked about on a random message board.- SimpsonCyclone
