Tyrus McGee commitment official
My sources are telling me that Tyrus McGee has indeed committed to Iowa State. Just passing this along.

Re: Tyrus McGee commitment official
According to Rivals it is true as well. So where does he fit in to our program? Rivals lists him as a shooting guard, but is he going to play point guard for us? Tyrus McGee - Yahoo! Sports -

Re: Tyrus McGee commitment official
This is the guy Fred REALLY wanted. He is a combo guard that I think will likely slide over to the PG spot. McGee, Phillips and Odunsi will be able to play both guard spots, which will give Iowa State some nice flexibility. Most importantly, they are big enough to guard both spots. With Bubu in the mix at PG... and Scotty and Elgin Cook at the 2 spots, Fred has a nice crop of guards IMO.

You left out Chris Babb and Chris Allen, BTW.
We can go with depth. We can go three guards. We can press all night long. This looks really good.

I think that team can keep up the speed and intensity of a pressing game all game long. Our games with Missouri should be filled with fun.

With the talent we'll have, it seems to me that we will need someone who can really handle the ball, that much is blatantly apparent. Another Jamaal Tinsley seems the missing puzzle piece. Unless Fred is planning on some attrition, and to sign a pure point guard, I hope that you are mistaken.

Wow, this is some quality talent coming our way. Hilton magic may be coming soon.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Being a combo guard doesn't automatically mean you don't have the pure point guard skills, it just means he could be a scorer if need be as well.

From everything that I've read on here he doesn't have the body for an interior forward. If we go three guards, can we really afford to have someone down there that is undersized as well, or would Ejim be considered one of the guards in a 3 guard lineup.

I've always read that he could play the 4 if need be.
I suspect we'd be able to rotate between lineups with 3 guards or a more conventional setup. Ejim would be too athletic and too valuable to leave out for too long.
My gut tells me that the lineups are going to change frequently during a game with this many guys.

How could I forget Babb and Allen!?
Yes, lots of depth at guard. Ejim will be more of a 3 and could be a Stevie Johnson type 4 in emergencies. Now if they can find another big body to throw in there with the young guns, should be a fun squad in 2011-2012.
