Yea, the HC isn't going to be working on fundamentals with the kids, that falls to the assistants.

I'm just happy to have enough guys to put together a team.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

It's not that easy. If it were, everyone who played for Ted Williams would have been a .400 hitter. Pure shooters are the hardest players to find/sign for any program. Shooters are always in short supply. There are lots of players out there in the 6'3" to 6'6" range that are athletic and can slash/score at the rim. True shooters that can change what the opponent has to do defensively are rare. If any of these guys can shoot like Fred then you have something special. Shooters come in as shooters, very rarely does a player become a great shooter because of coaching at the college level. It takes years to become a great shooter, starting when a player is very young. Do you think Steve Alford was a great college player? No, he was a great college shooter, if he couldn't shoot the ball like he did he would never have earned a scholarship to Indiana.

That and the versatility of next years group.
McGee can play 1 or 2
Babb, 2 or 3
Ejim, 3 or 4
White, unless his skills disappeared through inactivity, 2, 3 ,4 ,5.
I think Allen is strictly 2 and Sledge is strictly 1. I have actually realized the full unestimable brilliance of Fred's plan--only in the essence of my own brilliance.
The truth of why Fred hasn't bothered to recruit a "pure" point guard, ala Jamaal Tinsley (drum roll, please)..............is that he's going to play Royce White at point, as a Magic Johnson style point guard! Ta-dah!
*Applause should all be directed to CFH for this brilliant stroke of coaching strategy...
