    Lutz will help out Freddy big time. His hire was a big get. A head coach who made the tournament 5 times at Charlotte will pay off big divedends for ISU.

    Really my only concern is that they keep a good dynamic. An experienced head coach might chafe a bit being as assistant again.

    Not going to be a problem IMO. I've gotten to know Fred pretty well since he got the job. He's a no ego guy. From everyone I've talked to and the vibe I've gotten from Lutz, he is the same way. I think that this is a great situation for both parties.

    maybe hes tired of the circus. if we pay him a few hundred large, maybe thats enough to live in a motor home in a place like boone.

    Somehow I expected Fred to get a real good assistant coach. But the Lutz hire exceeded my expectations. So far Hoiberg has exceeded all my expectations.
    I'm really excited about the future. I think its time to become a bball season ticket holder once again.....

    No doubt, Lutz did a great job at Charlotte. You really have to develop guys down there. He knows how to play the game in every sense of the word.

    It takes a lot of self confidence to bring aboard a coach like that as an assistant, and I think he will be invaluable in helping Freddie for the next year or two (assuming he will get a head coaching gig sometime soon).

    Depends what your mindset is. It is possible that you need to think of your investment having a maturation date two-years off.
