Brackins First Game - DNP Inactive
Looked at the 76er's box score from last night. Brackins was listed as DNP- Inactive.
I have not heard anything lately. Is Brackins injured or has he just not made the playing roster at this time.

I think he's struggling to get through the 19 PFs on that roster that vie for PT after Elton Brand.

NBA teams are only allowed to have 12 active players for each game. As the season goes on, my guess is they will de-activate Tony Battie and have CB in a more prominent role. Not uncommon to see rooks slowly ramp up their playing-time.

Although Tony Battie also had a DNP, so more prominent compared to Battie would just be further up the list of guys who didn't play.

Hey all, I live here is Philly, so I thought I'd share.
Here is an interesting blog that follows the sixers closely. Philadunkia DAVE BERRI of “WAGES of WINS” TALKS 76ers
If you read the full article and several others, you will see that the author rightfully holds the whole of the 76ers front court in contempt. The jury is obviously still out on CB, though I have heard some WOM buzz that CB is impressing in practice. (Practice?!?! you talking about Practice?!?!)
My take is that CB can't do any worse than the jerks in front of him in the depth chart, so he'll start to get some minutes. Also, I think if he learns to crash the boards consistently he will get that time more quickly, since the 76ers are an atrocious rebounding team.

Re: Brackins First Game - DNP Inactive
As a sixers fan I will say it is pretty dumb to not activate him. I think he'll take over for Songaila/Battie later on in the year.
One problem for Brackins is he is very simialr to Speights (Big Man with a jumper, below average D). It would be a pretty bad decision to play Brackins and Speights at the same time. They also have Nocioni, and Thad Young to play the PF position. So where he is talented enough to be the first big off the bench. He's stuck behind 4 others that have been around longer. Tough spot for him. He's gonna have to be real physical, and become an established rebounder(something they lack) to get playing time. I could almost see him get traded again, possibly with Iguodala, who apparently wants out. I think they basically have to trade one of Thad Young, Speights, Brackins to clear the log jam, and get something of value.

He is on the active roster, but with more experience in front of him he will not see much playing time until the season gets going in full.

Re: Brackins First Game - DNP Inactive
From the ESPN players page: http://espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=4254 News: Brackins has been inactive in all three of Philadelphia's games so far this season. Spin: Coach Doug Collins said the team is considering this season as a red-shirt year for the rookie. He'll likely spend the year anchored to the end of the Sixers' bench, and they could send him to the D-League for a large portion of the season as well.

Brackins will dress for the first time tomorrow (Wed). With all the injuries, he's finally getting a chance. I'm hoping of course for him not only to get playing time and play well, but for him to be intriguing enough for another team to trade for him; Philly's a bad fit. Craig getting some minutes tonight with Brand out.
3-7 FGs, 6 pts and 1 reb in 10 minutes.
Good to see him get some PT.
