More important to who? Or is this just part of your "dig" in the next sentence? I'm thinking Royce is more important to ISU than either of those other guys are to Kansas and Kentucky. Don't Kansas and Kentucky have a whole lineup of other 5 star players to fall back on? I (probably naively) hope that the NCAA looks at student athletes the same regardless of their abilities.

I agree with your last sentence, so this is moot, but Selby and Kanter are both top 5 freshmen on top 10 teams. White is a top 30 guy on a top 100 team. Even if White is cleared, ISU still isn't a tournament team, so I don't think he's anywhere close to as important as Kanter or Selby to college basketball or the NCAA.

Why does it matter if KU and UK are top 10 teams, does that give them some preference in the eyes of the NCAA? It shouldn't matter where the team is ranked and how good the player is, they should all be treated equally.

Royce had a hearing last Friday, we should know by this Friday.

I completely disagree. Look how DG played in OT against Kansas St with no Brackins around. We dont know how big of a year this Senior will have. We dont know how much veteran senior Jake Anderson is going to bring to the table. But we know this is a guards game. We dont know how big of a year lock-down defender Ejim might have. Vanderbecken can stroke the 3. And then we add Royce. No one really knows just how big of a beast he will be down low. But Hoiberg says thats exactly what he is. So if Royce actually gets cleared, no, I completely disagree that its "common sense" that we wouldn't make the NCAA Tournament.

I have to agree that thinking that this team can make the NCAA tournament contradicts common sense. Spin it how you want but that notion is crazy. Have stranger things happened? Sure, but by definition common sense didn't support the craziness that ensued. Thinking that this team is NCAA tournament material will only lead to heartache.

I predict the NCAA will rule in March that White is eligible for the 2010/11 season, therefore he loses this year of eligibility even though he didn't play.
