- Did they have a video intro before the starting line-ups? After last years debacle - I'm wondering if anything had been done.
- How was the crowd compared to the Dubuque game?
- Overall atmosphere....better?

-There was an intro video, I think it was better. But then again I liked last year's , just wish it would have been played at a different time (towards the end it was)
-Atmosphere was alright.
-Announced crowd was over 12,000. Maybe 7000 in the stands. Better than some early games in the past.
-Students didn't show up? Why? Drinking can start at 9, for god's sake.
The funniest thing was that there was this group of cameras following Hoiberg when he came on to the floor and after the game. I bet that was annoying for him. What in the hell do you do with that many cameras following you.
Yes, they had a video intro that I thought was way better than last year's. It used all three screens on the jumbotron. The center smaller screen had counted up through all the years of ISU baskeball and the other 2 screens flashed pictures and highlight clips. Had some good music to get the crowd pumped up to as well. Loud cheers when they first showed Coach Orr and then CFH during his playing days.
Crowd was bigger and louder than the Dubuque game, but still only about 1/2-2/3 full.
Didn't hear any of the cynisism that was rampant during the few games I attended last year, but it is only the first game of the year.
I was disappointed in the attendance even with the weather. I thought with the Mayor's first game (not counting the Dubuque game), there would be more excitement and support. I hope the Drake game is packed. I liked the video before the game as well.
Student section = huge fail. Guess with all the "positive" buzz around this years team they are waiting for next year already. I don't buy the weather thing. Snow is coming for God's sake. Guess they were all cuddled around their fireplaces with snuggies.
Diante's offense has improved considerably. That step back jump shot could be unstoppable when they have to defend he drive to the hole.
Big V can shoot. Not too many big guys are going to be guarding against the 24 footer. When he is feeling it he could really go off. I like how they have the green light when they are open. Live by the 3, die by the 3. Lets hope they can live by it. If they have hot shooting nights we could knock off some good teams.
We need some bulk to fill up the lane. The young guys will fill out with time, but we need some short term wide bodies. Can we get a few O-lineman to walk on? :jimlad:
Definitely pick your nose BEFORE you leave the locker room.
If I hadn't known any better, I would've had no idea there was some "magic" back in the building judging by the crowd, it seemed like a pretty typical early-season crowd to me. Just like football, it is going to take TIME. Hardcore fans like us never lost our excitement and begin every season with optimism (well, most of us). I honestly think it's going to take a couple years of sustained success to get some of the casual fans back in attendance.
I thought the game was great last night. Bigger crowd than I ever expected with football playoffs, volleyball tournament, crappy weather, football road game.
They guys played a little better than I imagined after watching their exh game.
Then again, going into the games this year with a we probably wont win, but im gonna have a blast attitude probably helps.
THE ONLY thing that was bad is that they did not reduce and cut Cyclone Alley in half like most of us wanted them to do.
Agreed. The game was a lot of fun.
I couldnt agree more with the CA statement.
7,000 in the seats is probably a good guess. Would have been nice to have a few more there for Fred's opener, especially more students (I agree with someone earlier in the thread, can't the partying wait a couple hours? When I was in school, the parties didn't really take off until at least 10:00.)
It was crazy watching the photog's following Fred around for a few minutes after he walked out. I don't know how he kept a straight face for them.
Looked like half of our offense last night was shooting the three over the top. Works well when you hit almost 50%, but I hope we don't have to rely on that every game.
Diante is definately the leader out there now. Saw some good things from the new guys here and there. Looks like Ejim could be a decent force near the basket, and he better be, since I don't know who else will.
We were satisfied with the win. Congrats to Fred for getting through his first real game, too.
