Doug McDermott scored 16 points and pulled down 7 boards in Creightons 71-57 win against Alabama State. Great first game for Doug. I think he is going to have a great career at Creighton and am really pulling for him. Has to sting for UNI because they lost what could end up being one of the best players in the MVC in a couple years. Sundays game against Alabama St will give us a good look of how we stack up with Creighton.
Harrison Barnes (I know I know) scored 14 points and pulled down 4 boards in UNC's 80-66 win over Libscomp. Not an impressive win by any means for UNC. I wonder if they have recovered from the disasterous season they had last year.
Kansas scored 113 points without their top recruit Selby. Is it me or has Brady Morningstar and Tyrel Reed been at Kansas for 20 years? The Morris twins are just a matchup nightmare for our big guys this year.
Ex ISU recruit Bo Barnes dropped 19 points for Hawaii. Probably not a player that would make a difference in the Big 12 but interesting to see none the less.
Ex ISU target and teammate of Demarcus Phillips, Will Clyburn, dropped 14 points and 8 boards for Utah in their opener. A lot of talk if we should have offered him. Now to be fair they played Grand Canyon. Never knew that was a school. But he still led their team in points and boards.
Ex ISU commit Jordan Dykstra only had 2 points and 4 boards coming off the bench for South Dakota State. Hard to believe this kid was at one time a top 100 recruit.
Good stuff 85. Thanks for posting. In one addition to that UNC-Lipscomb game, Barnes played against his former Ames High teammate Jordan Burgason, who had 7 points for Lipscomb. What are the chances that those two teams meet up in Harrison's first game?
Regarding Kansas, while it is true that Selby may not be eligible because of questionable ties that involve his amateur status, the team is not without guys who can play the point. They return Tyshawn Taylor and Elijah Johnson, both of whom could probably handle the job. Reed and Morningstar do seem to have been around for a long while; that is because they are redshirt seniors. My view is that KU could be better than last year's team when Collins tried to do too much by himself.

I think this is GCU's first season playing D1 basketball. (Maybe their second.)

John Wilkins, a JuCo target who ultimately committed to Illinois State, chipped in 9 pts as the Redbirds beat Quincy University by 10 in an exhibition....
