Re: To get to 13 next year?
Fred said in an interview that odunsi has a 4.0 gpa and is very smart, what are the chances he gets and academic scholarship?

That is pretty obvious, if you have a scholly you do not pay tuition. We may have two that will be redshirting.

The two likely scenarios are that one of the incoming frosh ends up at prep school instead for academic or athletic reasons or SC decides to not use up his last year of eligibility.

Someone is done after this year, unless Hoiberg is just trying to be proactive and expecting someone to quit after looking at the trends of the past few seasons at Iowa State. I'm hoping that crap is over with!

As for Scotty-I hope he stays. Having said that, this is as viable of a scenario as any other.

Scott Christopherson-SG-RS Senior
Chris Allen-SG-RS Senior
Demarcus Phillips-SG-Senior
Chris Babb-SG-RS Junior
Tyrus McGee-PG/SG-Junior
Anthony Odunsi-SG/PG-Freshman
Tavon Sledge-PG/SG-Freshman
Scott is the only one that would make sense for him to be done after this year. He has enough credits to graduate and he wont get much playing time next year with Allen and Babb in front of him. I could see us redshirting Sledge and possibly Odunsi, even though Hoiberg always states how big 12 ready Odunsi is already. Not sure its given that Babb is in front of Scott. I too, will wait to see how this year goes.

Re: To get to 13 next year?
IF there is ever an upcoming season where we DON'T have 14 scholarships on the hook I would be concerned. This is awesome, every year at least 1 guy will leave because of playing time. Guaranteed. There simply is not enough playing time for more than 8 guys -at most 10 guys. Nobody wants to wait their turn anymore unfortunately. That's why we need to have 1 JuCo at least in each class, and aim to fill 14 each year.
The 4 year guys are a thing of the past. They want to stretch their careers to 5 years but don't want to redshirt right away. So... Sit on the bench for 2 years at X school -then transfer and redshirt, then hopefully play the final 2 years for someone else. We've had too many, but everyone has 1-2 every year. Recruit for 14-15 guys, that's what Kansas and a lot of the good schools are doing.

You can never have too many shooters.

In fact, Floyd once signed 17 players for a year.
It'll work itself out. It's very rare that no players leave between years.
I hope Scotty is here next year.

Ive seen him 3 times this year. Great kid, but shouldn't be starting in the Big 12. He would be really great coming off the bench next year.

With so many guards, any chance we implement the Grinnell offense? -
