And as far as students showing up, it's early in the season. I dont' think attendance has ever been great at these early games. I just remember in my days back in the 80's, there was a lottery to get tickets. We were always sold out and we had to study and all the other excuses I'm hearing now.
I'd say that it is way too early to proclaim that. If we can get back to even Wayne Morgan levels, I'll be able to entertain that premise.

The one thing I know about GM, is his ability to get us to lose.

I think Creighton will get their first taste of that on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.

GMAC will be just as juiced up for this game as the Cyclones. A victory is far from certain. I hope our shots fall and we bury them, but there are going to be plenty of games where they don't and the points will have to come from Somewhere, I would guess that will be the Tim Floyd style get the free throw line, but easier said than done

Fwiw (TM), I was a student when Orr was hired, and yes, the fans that were there were jacked to have him, even though his first couple teams were pretty bad.

But even with the Great Orr, there were a lot of nights you could walk up the night of the game and buy a great ticket. I remember some non-conference games when I was in the pep band (we had an awesome drummer, btw) and there was no one in the balcony. No one.

It will take some time build back up, and with expectations low this year, I'm sure there's a lot of wait and see with this team. But if they can smoke Iowa and somehow take out UNI, then people will start noticing. Once the B12 starts I expect the crowds will get better.

Oh, and Fred says this team has a chip on its shoulder, I don't think they're going to let Mac punk them.

GMac cannot actually play....he has to coach his team in the game.

Due to his terrible leadership/coaching ability..I would say we have a pretty good chance to win.

Hey CW, I realize you have probably distanced yourself from this thread by now, but in the off chance you are still checking in on it...

Do you REALLY think GM knows a thing about these kid's strengths, especially DG? If so, why do I not recognize the DG I have seen over the last 3 years? Don't give me the "he's a senior and has played every game since he stepped on the Iowa State campus" or "we haven't played anybody yet" deals either (especially the second one based on your write up).

I contend GM has absolutely no clue as to the strengths of the kids representing Iowa State. He may have an idea to their weaknesses, but only those weaknesses resultant of the 'wild animal caging' that is GM's system.

I firmly believe what you quoted from CFH is simple "coach speak".

Oh, and students, get off your studying ***** and have fun for a couple of hours. Are you going to get in the pants of the chicks who are giving you the stink eye for cheering loudly? No, you're not! Apparently you are too damn busy on a Friday, Sunday or a Wednesday (from what I hear and vaguely remember, those are prime boot knocking days).

Enjoy college. You have the rest of your life to work your *** off. Get to the game! Oh, and if you are just yelling, making a **** ton of noise (nothing extrememly crude), and those hotties in front of you give you a look, yell louder!

Best part of your whole post. Couldn't agree more on this.

My one regret from my time at ISU was that I didn't party more and study less(I graduated with a 3.6 GPA which was good back then, but who cares!)

I listened to Fred say it, and while sincere, I also firmly believe it was coachspeak.

It's just what you say. A coach has to say it, and they all say it.

Cyclone fans like to complain about everything. We are like that little kid in class that cries about everything. If his shoes laces come untied he falls down and cries about it. As a fan base you either sac up or you don't. But don't go into denial about how much support there is. IF you don't support your team and things don't go the way you like then you have no one to blame but yourself.
I agree with you about the excuses, BUT, harvest is a legit "excuse" for many people. My dad always said that a day in October is worth a week in December. When the weather allows you to harvest, you harvest...period. My family has four season tickets and I think that I could count the October and early November FB games my parents have made in the last 10 years on one hand. Just the way it goes, I guess.

I do think that the iowa comparison isn't really valid. Farmers that have season tickets there are missing games at the same rate. Iowa just has more fans to snap up those tickets when they aren't being used. There's just more demand due to iowa's historical and recent success. Don't get me started on why any farmer is an iowa fan...
