Say what you want about Mac, he was always good at coming up with a plan to defend the opposition. It's going to be interesting.
I would welcome a zone, because you know we'll see it again at some point in the season. I'm sure Fred/Lutz have a plan for this.

I wonder what kg_cyclone thinks about this game? I also wonder who he will be routing for?

Clones will outscore CU on in bound plays. You heard it here.

If Fred is smart, he should full court press them at some point. I don't remember the last time that didn't work against our former coach.

I agree, this team is going to have some growing pains and will more than likely see lots and lots of zone as the year progresses. I'd love to see these teams we play in the preseason throw zones at us so we're ready for conference play.

I would bet this happens as well. Every team we have played so far manned us and we torched them. He'll see if we can make or out side shots and if we are then he'll go box and 1 on who ever is hgt or triangle and 2.

i'm certain they'll full court press the ball handler when Bubu is in the game. Hopefully we'll see Jake doin' some full court pressure on the ball handler as well.

As we've seen in past years, full-court press on the primary ball handler is a great way to disrupt McD teams. It limits the number of seconds you have to run plays, and forces the PG to relinquish control.

I'll never forget, I think it was against KSU or someone in b12 play last season at home. 20 second left in first half, GMac calls timeout to set up play. KSU comes out and double teams DG. Play over.

Lol, I don't remember this specifically but it sounds oh so familiar.

    Greg's Gameplan?

Sucking the life out of his team, squashing their spirit and making them loathe the game they once loved, taking the court as lifeless facsimiles of once enthusiastic and passionate basketball players, regretting their college choice in every waking moment of their torturous existence.

Or maybe he'll do it differently at Creighton.

As a team, we were around 25-30%. Those shots were online but not falling. I don't think that will be a problem.

Basically, Greg will try to play man-to-man against our quicker guards, and they'll drive and kick all over. Then he'll sag it in and we'll light it up from outside.

We'll see what we saw against Drake, just without the wild 48-point advantage.
Once we're past 60 points, we're out of Creighton's range.
Ha-ha. We might be safe at 50.

    THE AWESOME PLAN:

    OFFENSE
Be Slow. Burn clock. Be methodical. Fail on in-bounds. Stand. Fall out of bounds. Do not foul. Have one person dribble the half court. Call a timeout. Sub. Discuss. Reconcile. Sub. Dribble. Shoot a 40 ft three. Wave at a rebound.

    DEFENSE
Hustle back into a pack. Hands up. Look tense. Watch a three go in. Take a TO, baby.

Greg will yell "DG!" every time Diante puts up a shot hoping to get in his mind and remind him of the beat down control he had on him last year. At least until Diante winds up and throws the rock in his face.

An opinion of what I noticed, nothing more. (who's arguing?)

Last year, I generally noticed DG passing up his first wide open look and only taking the shot once the ball was swung back around and the D had sagged bag, knowing he wasn't a deep threat. Clearly not a first or second option, but third or even fourth with the clock winding down. Leading to my comment on wide open 3's. I don't recall very many shots with a defender guarding very closely. Obviously only great 3pt shooters hit 40-50%, but they would hit 50+% in sagged off defensive sets.

What I want to see, as Erik mentioned, is if his release is looking much smoother and if he isn't hesitating to shoot at first open look. I think some of his problem beyond the arc in his first 3 years has been the hesitation after a miss or two. (which may have been due to Gmac)

From what I've heard so far, he's less hesitant and has a more reliable supporting cast on the perimeter. If he can stick at last year's 3pt % or even improve, good things will happen for this team. That is my point.

i'm assuming he still works for McD in some capacity at Creighton now.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
