Re: McDermott and ISU Fans
Now that he's gone, the last four years were so painful I don't even want to think about him. So I'm just not going to acknowledge him when announced. Thats my way of dealing with it.

Re: McDermott and ISU Fans
I don't like him as a coach, but I won't boo him. Wrong coach, wrong time, wrong situation. I believe he did what he thought was best for ISU. He's nowhere near Chizik in the slimeball category. I think there is something to be said for being a good guy.
I don't bring my own opinions, just attack others. -
Re: McDermott and ISU Fans
No reason to applaud McD. I don't really wish to boo him either because he left and that is ultimately what I wanted. Just cheered harder for Hoiberg, that'll send a message.

THANK-YOU ORE-GON, clap-clap, clap clap clap.

Why do people celebrate this man? It's rep time because this is one awesome post. You totally nailed it. If I was going to the game today I'd wear a shirt that says Thank You Creighton. One of the biggest breaks in ISU sports history is that Creighton actually wanted McDermott and we were able to get out of that disaster of a contract.

He is a sweet, swell fella.
and does charity work.
...just like every other coach in the country...even Chizz.

Re: McDermott and ISU Fans
I don't believe he intentionally put the screws to ISU. However, his incompetence was remarkable. And it certainly doesn't seem to bother him much now that he took millions from ISU and produced nothing. I guess he tried. Good riddance.

Re: McDermott and ISU Fans
I can't believe how many d-bags would actually boo McDermott. It's one thing to not clap but to boo shows a complete lack of class. If you are booing around me, I'm going to call you a loser to your face because you are.

He failed to relate to his players was one of the major problems. That is why they usually left.

Why do people celebrate this man? I feel the same way. I probably wouldn't boo him, even though I can't stand him. I have a thank-god-he's-gone attitude.

Would anyone criticize an ISU fan for booing Chizik? I highly doubt it. I don't see the difference between McD and Chiz.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: McDermott and ISU Fans
what was the name of the poster (Greg's nephew) that made a religion out of defending him on this board?
I expect him to show at any moment and declare "all is well".
-
Re: McDermott and ISU Fans
Yeah I wouldn't care if anyone booed him, and if I had all the games running through my mind where we took a dump in the 2nd half, I probably would start booing. You're right, he certainly doesn't deserve applause. For what? For leaving?
