So how about the rest of the season?
How do you feel about the rest of the season after the Creighton game today? Better, worse or no different?

Re: So how about the rest of the season?
I'm encouraged ISU was able to win the game despite Creighton playing out of their minds most of the game. My overall opinion hasn't changed much. I hope we take care of business until we play @ UNI and at home against Cal. Those will be better measuring stick games.

Re: So how about the rest of the season?
We're going to struggle in Big 12 play...that hasn't changed.
What I do like is that all the newcomers experienced a pressure-packed, every possession counts type of game, and that can only help.
We'll win some we shouldn't, we'll lose some we shouldn't. Anything over a .500 finish will be a good finish for this team.
Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. -
Re: So how about the rest of the season?
I just want over .500 right now. I firmly believe that it's in range.

Re: So how about the rest of the season?
I did not realize our guards would be playing this well.
I'm not going to go crazy yet but it has been a pleasant surprise thus far.
They are fun to watch for the first time in 5 years, that has been the best thing so far (and the winning)

Re: So how about the rest of the season?
Feel as good as I did last year after the first 6 games....we all saw what happened after that.
I think this game built some more confidence. Creighton was shooting the 3 better they had yet on the season. That #23 hitting threes was ridiculous. The CU fan by me said he is not a 3pt shooter. That's why he about jumped out of his shorts after making a big one in the first half and McD was hootin and hollerin into the TO and backslapping everyone (made me sick, never saw that kind of emotion last season out of him).
Our guys kept fighting and came out on top, good things can come from that.

Re: So how about the rest of the season?
This game shows me a lot. A game coming in I thought we would win easily but giving the circumstances and how well Creighton played I'm more confident. Close games help so much our free throws can only get better and our shots continued to fall even in a different venue. NIT is not out of the question at this point, we will surprise people but i;m sure well lose a couple we shouldn't.
In short expectations are rising but I'm gonna enjoy the ride.

I was pretty skeptical of how we'd do seeing our first several games last year were we won purely on talent, and not teamwork. I felt there were some warning signs even in those wins. I'm seeing the complete opposite this year....but of course, we just don't have as much talent this year.

In short expectations are rising but I'm gonna enjoy the ride. Yup, I feel the same way. We took Creighton's best shot and still won. If we played them 10 times we would win 9 of 'em given how many free points we got off fastbreaks. At this point I'm as enthusiastic as ever about our progress and chances for a > .500 season.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: So how about the rest of the season?
Honestly, I still have us at .500. I think we should have beat Creighton, and honestly, this would have been a completely different game if they didn't go off from behind the arc. I was very, very impressed by how we were able to battle back after being down so many times. The team strait up never quit. And I think that is something that's very encouraging. I think we're going to have a few more games like this this season, but the Big XII is just too good and we're still a very thin team. Still have us around 15 wins.

We are a smaller team this year, yes, and this will hurt in conference play, but I think we are every bit as talented.

Re: So how about the rest of the season?
I didn't know what to expect for a record this year when the season started, and I honestly still have no idea. We have shown that we can win on the road now (thanks, ref's!) although WFA certainly isn't a hostile court.
I was hoping we wouldn't be more than a handful of games below .500, but we might be able to hit that mark as long as we don't have too many nights where nobody can buy an outside shot.
I do think the team is going to be fun to watch this year, which I can live with since it's the first year into a new coaching staff.

I think what he was trying to say was that we had a lot more talent on the team last year, which I think is hard to argue. Dendy was crazy athletic (although couldn't hit a shot), and gilstrap and brackins were nba-ish talent - gilstrap, not so much, but you get the point.
Point is, this team plays as a team with less talent. Ejim may go to the NBA eventually (yes, I know, way too early to tell), but it's hard to make a case for anybody else at this point. We are less talented.

Re: So how about the rest of the season?
I'm thinking this team can win 17 games this year. 18 games if we can pull an upset in the BigXII tourney opening round.
