This is 20x worse call than "did the shot get off. You can watch the video clip of the shot over and over and it's razor close. I would totally understand it being called either way live. This "foul" is not close, it's a horrible call.

I don't want to hear about how us getting a 50/50 call makes up for all the obvious rigged games we've had in the past, like KU getting 3 points on a deadball. These 50/50 close calls should go everybody's way from time to time, if VDB missed the shot and they let it count anyway... then we'd be in KU gamefixing territory.

The last shot shouldn't have counted, but as an official you probably have to give the benefit of the doubt to the guy making the shot if you have any questions.

I thought the officials did a fine job. There were several 50/50 calls and nobody can get them all right. Just my opinion.
You never see that call at the end of a game though, right?

Most officials seem to have an unwritten rule where they will not blow a whistle at the end of a game unless an assault or raping took place.

Ha...true to a point. But to say that Ejim didn't touch him is a little unfair as well. There was definitely contact with the body.

I just feel all dirty being in the first ever BB game to have a questionable call.

It should also be pointed out that Creighton benefitted from a call like this last year, except it was in the MVC tournament against WSU. Exact same situation and I bet none of their fans had a problem with it then, in a much more important game. Should be pointed out, karma indeed.

DRCHIRO is correct. In most games, the officials swallow their whistles on that play unless there is contact to the shooting hand, allowing plenty of body contact underneath. Thus a questionable call at the very least.

Even the famous call in the last second with the Knicks/Bulls, Pippen got him on the shooting arm (although no major contact). So there's a call in the last seconds where there was contact on the shooting arm and people still go on about what a horribly inconsistent call it was years later. That's really the only case I can think of other than last night where a team got bailed out like Creighton by refs on a last second shot.

I have absolutely no problem with this game. ISU had a 50/50 call go our way for once after other calls in the game went against them. Big freaking whoop. I'm guessing it will be the last time GMcD has an opportunity to beat a Fred Hoiberg coached team. He got a lot of breaks to stay within striking distance and his team was draining 3s left and right, but still couldn't beat ISU.

    GO CYCLONES!

You make a living off of being level-headed and partially neutral, which is what a journalist is supposed to be. This is what separates you from Nebraska/Omaha media, which is decidedly partial and could really give a rip about coming off as level-headed.

I see where you're coming from, but the officials did not do a "fine job". Nobody gets them all right as you said, but they also shouldn't get that many wrong.

Also, didn't Antoine Young fall away? I know that undercutting can be a foul, but wasn't Young already falling back?

Ha...thanks man. It was hard to tell whether Young was fading on his own doing or if it was the body contact by Melvin. I agree that there have been much more egregious fouls ignored at various ends of the game in college bball history than that one. Regardless, it's a W!

Didn't he go over the back of Ejim to get the ball in the first place?

I thought the worse call was the "charge" on Godfrey.

THIS. It was a TOTAL makeup call for the intentional foul call.

Re: Giggles and Iowa State . . .

That's weak from giggles then. In no way did they intentionaly hand us the game.

It was a very tough call at the end and they had to go with a call they felt was right with no assistance from video.
