Agree, away games aren't easy, but that isn't what I said. In the past, away games scared the **** out of me, but we have a new coach and what seems to be a 100% new team, so until I see this team on the road, I can't say I'm nervous. Virginia is not a good team, just like Kennesaw State. People are getting worked up because they beat GTech. After watching Duke tonight, Duke will beat GTech by 50.

***Don't get me wrong, this team isn't winning more than 5-6 B12 games...and I've had plenty Black Velvet tonite.

    Re: Virginia

I would think that a Cubs fan would be willing to put more out there how optimistic they are every year and then get disappointed. Come on guys! We are 4-0 and looking fantastic! We were down 12 and came back against a very good Creighton team. We killed teams we should be killing and players are just now beginning to show us what they can do. We've had games where JVB has carried us, games when Egim showed us his offense, and DG has been consistenly. Hell, even Scotty won a game for us. I don't know how much you guys expected out of this team, but I expected nothing and couldn't be happier right now. I honestly believe this team makes the tournament, I don't know if we will be ranked in the top 15 ever, but I'm ready for a very exciting year. And yes, I believe DG will get drafted after this year. Look how much he has improved in 1 year. He is getting stronger, better at finishing, and has an NBA shot. This kid has no fear, is quick as hell, can take anyone off the dribble. I know Stinson had a better career for us, but I think DG will carry this team on his back this year. Sorry if you don't agree.

I think we all can agree that we have been pleasantly surprised through the first two weeks of the season, but saying we're a top 15 (maybe even a top 25) team is pushing it. I love this team, and they are extremely fun to watch, but it's hard to know what to expect when we haven't played against top talent. Our first four games have been against inferior opponents, and although we've looked great at times, we can't really base our expectations on those games.

Yep, this guy hasn't watched any games this year. Hey buddy, the games are actually played and you can get your opinions by watching the games and not reading what other people say on the message boards! Thanks tho!!

Actually been to every game and watched them intently. I am just realistic. You haven't obviously watched any games outside of Iowa State.

I don't know why you are getting upset, I said I love this team and am hoping for the best. However, saying they are a Top 15 team is just ridiculous for where we are in the season.

I do watch a lot of college basketball, so no problems there. I can agree with this post tho. Iowa State has looked good in the OOC in the past only to disappoint. But that's when they had "stars" on the team looking to get theirs. This team plays as a team, hustles, and look after eachother. Guaranteed this team beats last years team and also takes out the great Curtis Stinson's team. This is a different brand of bball for the Clones and I for one love it and am on board completely. If you don't want to get excited as me and think my posts are ridiculous I don't care. But this is going to be a fun year so all negative nancy's don't jump up and down when this team continues to improve.

I am 100% with you with what you said here. I think I speak for a lot of people though, that we won't really know what to expect until we play some tougher opponents. Next weeks games against UNI and CAL should give us a better idea.

    Re: Virginia

Answer me this mayor05, who guards Marcus Morris? who guards Jordan Hamilton? How do we stop Acy and Jones? Pullen and Judge? How do we stop the run and gun of Mizzou? Better yet, do you know who those people are? This team may be a better TEAM than last year but we still don't have the talent to win consistently in the B12. I've learned to become a realist in my days as a Clone and Cubs fan, and none more than this year. It's pretty simple, we don't have the talent to compete day in a day out. That doesn't mean I don't want this team to be top 15, it means I'm not an idiot.

I really wanted to contribute to this thread, but it became quite obvious that someone with multiple personalities was too busy having their own conversation with their alter-ego screen names. Weird stuff.

DG is faster than Curtis, a better ball handler, and a better outside shooter than Curtis was at this stage in his basketball career. DG was young for his age, he was 17 when he played as a freshmen. I think Curtis was a couple of years older than that when he was a freshman. I think 6-4 guys that are quick and elusive, can drive to the basket, hit pullup jumpers and he from long range have a better shot at the NBA than someone like Curtis. Did you see the game Sunday? I couldn't believe DG was the same player we have seen the past few years. He has really improve his game or maybe the style we are playing is better suited for him.

I can't 100% agree that Garrett is a better ball-handler than Stinson. Stinson did some amazing things with the rock in his hand.

Stinson was much older. He turned 21 during his freshman season.

Ask Rondo how important his long range shot is to his game.

Stinson was tough as nails. As much as I like DG this year so far, I don't see any NBA future for him.

The one bright spot for Virginia is they have a solid big man in Mike Scott - could potentially be a match-up problem.

This will definitely be a good test for our guys going into the Big 12 portion of the schedule.
UVA's is picked to finish about as low as we are in their conference, so it should be a good match-up. Granted it is on the road, and just by watching what little of the game I have, we have a good shot at beating this team.

    Re: Virginia

Stayed up to watch this game. Washington is going to be very good and should win the PAC 10 without much trouble.

That being said, UVA just crumbled under the defensive pressure. Their guards couldn't handle that in your face attack and the constant running. That might bode well for us, given what we've seen thus far this year.

Mike Scott is going to give us a little trouble inside. He's an athletic, active big man that will pound the offensive glass. K.T. Harrell, who is a freshman guard was a guy I liked. I know he had some decent offers coming out of high school, but he's a guy that Anderson could very easily match up with.

Washington showed a blue print for how to beat these guys. Granted, Washington's back court is just a tad better than our's, but defensive pressure and primary/secondary breaks really hurt UVA last night.

    Good rundown.
I'll add this to my expanding list of road games we COULD win.
