Virginia will be a very good test...
Viginia handled Oklahoma last night 74-56. Not the Oklahoma of old but December 30 game at Virginia will be a good test.

According to the RPI, Virginia is ranked 163, worse then any other team we have played so far. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/rankings/rpi/index2 -

Any road game is going to be a good test, no matter who it's against.

We will get "tested" before the Virginia game. UNI, Iowa, and Cal come to mind. Iowa I know is bad but it is a road game.

Re: Virginia will be a very good test...
I think Virginia plays Witchta state today that will be a good gauge to see how good they are. OU has looked really bad this year.

It's amusing (to me) how UVa thumped OU during a tournament when OU lost to Chaminade, which has the link to that notorious Virginia/Sampson upset from '82(?).
I wanted to say it's ironic, but it's merely a coincidence.

Virginia is now 3-3 and lost to Wichita State 70-58 tonight. This games needs to be a W for us this year.

Re: Virginia will be a very good test...
Our non-conf schedule is turning out even weaker than I thought. Virginia is bad, Cal isn't good, UNI, Drake and Iowa are all not very good.
We'll probably need 22 wins at least to make the tournament.

Re: Virginia will be a very good test...
Behind Cal (who we have at home) UVA will be our toughest test before we get to the conference games.
I use kenpom.com which I find to be much more accurate than the early season RPI or basically anything else.

I still think 20 is the magic number depending on the W's we can get in conference.

Re: Virginia will be a very good test...
Well there will be at least two Cyclone fans there so maybe that will help-front row even!

Wichita State is a clear favorite for MVC title, but UVa got exposed vs. Washington — which looked pathetic on offense toward the end of the MSU game.
Any road game is tough, but if this is going to be anything more than an encouraging transition season for ISU, the Virginia game is a litmus test. A loss is no shame, but it looks winnable.
I can probably live with 2-2 vs UNI/Cal/Iowa/Virginia, if the team continues to play well overall — but that's no longer a "best-case" outcome for me.
