Ejim
Wow. Not sure if I'm more impressed with his game tonight (14 pts, 12 rebs) or his post-game interview with John Walters.
I hope this guy sticks around!

We had a lot of turn over in past years and I wish it not to return.

Re: Ejim
If Melvin were to play 4 years here (and I hope he does), his # could end up in the rafters. He just doesn't look like a freshman out there.

Re: Ejim
At 6' 6", he can handle the ball, he can shoot from the perimeter, he can bang, and he can defend. He is the whole package, and he is the real deal. It sounds strange to be talking about potential for a guy who just put up 14 and 12, but I think he's just scratching the surface.
As I said in another thread, when I watch him play I think of Jeff Grayer. It's crazy talk, I know, to compare him with Harrison Barnes (another 6' 6" wing that I know a little bit about), but his play is doing all the talking.

He's a prep school kid like Brackins, which means he's a year older than most freshman. If he's pro material at all (and he clearly is) he won't be here 4 years. But he should be here for 3 fun years.

I've seen a lot of people compare his with Grayer, but I'm pretty sure John Walters gets credit for the first comparison (at least that I've seen) - During the Drake game Ejim took the ball coast to coast and Walters dropped the Grayer reference.

Re: Ejim
Melvin, if you're reading this... Thank you for coming to ISU!!! I wish you the very best of health & happiness while going to school here. I'm convinced that in a couple of years you are going to be on many (a list) to go Pro, BUT please listen to coach Hoiberg! The man has been in the very shoes you are in now, and in the shoes you want to ultimately be in! It's going to be highly entertaining to watch you over the course of the next few seasons, here's to hoping you can lead us deep into March! Good Luck man! -

To me he seems just a little quicker than Grayer was. He has a lot of similar moves. Some of those jams out of nowhere around the basket are vintage Grayer. Jeff always played bigger than he actually was and Ejim sure looks that way.

We are elated to have you here at ISU, and we look forward to so many good times ahead.
Is there such a thing as Hilton Edgic?

We had a lot of turn over in past years and I wish it not to return. If Fred puts a starting 5 together that can keep ME off the floor he might be
willing to come off the bench and win a National Championship. Stinson and
Brackins were both rumored to the NBA after one year, Stinson is still in the
D league and Brackins may be headed there.
