Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I'm having as much fun going to games as I've had in years! This team is just fun to watch so far. They all look like they're having a good time out there.
I just got back from the game, and I can't wait for the next one. Even if/when we hit a rough patch this year, if they keep playing as a team, I'm all in!
Did anyone notice that in the TO after Kennesaw cut it to 10 in the first half and had possession, Freddie met with the coaches away from the team for the better part of the TO, then sat down calmly and addressed the team, they responded and came back out and finished the half strong. He's keeping them loose and they respond to it. Loved it!

Here is my motto for ISU Basketball this season... Iowa State Men's Basketball: Nothing to Lose; Everything to Gain!! -
Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
Is it about time to say this team in no way is comparable to last years. I think it's time to drop that whole argument. GMAC...GONE. BRACKINS....GONE. TEAM BASKETBALL.....BACK HILTON MAGIC....COMING BACK

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I would love to welcome back team basketball and some other wild things like guard defense, guard play, intensity, excitement, scoring, and winning.

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I am chugging the kool-aid, I am so happy to have basketball back!!!! My initial love affair with Iowa State began with basketball, so it has been a rough few years for me. I will be renewing my season tickets for a long time with the kind of effort I have seen so far, the best part is that we can only get better.
Boom.....transfer the karma -

-JVB got injured last year
-Lucca Left
-Scotty was sick
-Nobody knew when dendy might leave
-Colvin was being... Colvin
-No chemistry last year, plenty of chemistry this year, all the way to the scout team.
End of the day... just enjoy it. Who knows how this season will end up, but there's a new energy to this program, an energy that hasnt been there since at least 2005, if not farther.

In this system imagine how good we would be with him in it as long he wasn't the main focus. This team is successful because there isn't anyone that really warrants a double team and if they did they move the ball very well.

I daydream sometimes about what it would be like with him. I go back and forth on how the team would function, though I don't think he's a real selfish player. I think that was the GMac focus.

I think one of Brackins' biggest problems was that he's a quiet guy, and there wasn't a vocal leader on the team last year. Just having Jake lead vocally and by example probably would have made Brackins better and more comfortable. Same with DG, I think he'll be better this year having Jake next to him. And that's regardless of the system.

I think this uptempo thing would have had Brackins drooling. I can see him throwing down some serious dunk action out there.
He and Ejim could have had a nice Brewster-oop combination.

Yep, I love Craig and think he was trying to be a leader, but it just wasn't in his nature.

Yeah I don't think Brackins was the second coming of Steve Francis or Marbury. This system is tailor made for a player with Brackins skill set. I always felt that GM was a good coach but was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I think what we are learning about Hoiberg is that he can be a good coach. I thought he could, but I really had no idea. He seems to have a knack for this. We can't under-estimate what Lutz brings either.
We've yet to see what will happen when he loses a few or gets blown out, but I think he will be a good coach.

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
Just to temper expectations...remember that nothing is as good as it seems and nothing is as bad as it seems. That said, I'm excited for this season!
