Dang you Hoiberg!
I'm trying really really hard to keep my expectations for this team at a realistic level.
I keep reminding myself that this hodge podge collection of players you've assembled has no business getting anyone's hopes up. I tell myself over and over that you're coaching for the first time. I keep chanting to myself "it's way too early".
A few more games like this, and I'm going to fall off the wagon and chug the whole pitcher of kool aid.

Good luck with that.
Might as well just jump off the wagon and enjoy the ride, wherever it goes.

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I say go ahead ahead and chug it!

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
Ha ha! Nice post. I find myself fighting the same feelings... "it's early in the season", "we haven't played anybody yet", "these guys will cool off at some point", "he's a FIRST time coach for ******'s sake!" and the list of excuses goes on and on... I can't help it though. We should be beating most of these teams, but we're straight thrashing them. Hard not to get giddy with excitement. Got my tix for the UNI game and I'll be anxious to see how they respond in that environment on the road.

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
Enjoy it, but don't get too down when the bad things happen.

But jumping on the wagon works for me.
Just come along for the ride, however you get there, OP. And everybody else.

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I'm with you. I don't want to get used to this, since we haven't played anybody that we know is good. But I'm starting to think that the team will be fun to watch -- win or lose.

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
As REO Speedwagon once said, "I can't fight this feeling anymore".

Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I'd chug Kool-Aid, but I've got a sinus infection with one of the nastiest sore throats I've ever had attached to it. I'm not chugging anything for right now...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -
Re: Dang you Hoiberg!
I think the key is to differentiate between 'hopes' and 'expectations'. My expectation for this team is around a .500 record, but to play hard every night My hope is that the chemistry and effort this team pay off in a post season tournament bid.

Didn't we have a great start last year as well? Don't get too excited.

This is a whole different beast.
