Perspective??
Have been to the past 2 games and need some perspective.
Sat behind the basket Wed night, pretty small crowd.
Section 134 on Sat, much better crowd.
Here's my question fully understanding there was no Clone Zone at the 2 games.
How do we alumni help bring Hilton Magic back?
I stood for every point we made, every defensive stand, great play........There was an older guy in Section 133 that stood every time I did and raised his hands to get fans up and everyone behind him just sat there. This was a tight game in the first half and definitely an opportunity for the fans to lift this team up.
So again I am asking............what's it going to take? The seats I sat in are not student seats, sooooooooo alumni get off your duff and LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!

Re: Perspective??
That was not a bad crowd for a winter break game. 10+ was announced I believe.
But I do agree, was was pretty quiet. No students didn't help...

Re: Perspective??
We rely so much on business/corporations to donate to our athletic department and many of the best seats go to those businesses. Oftentimes these seats are hardly ever filled and/or the people who sit in them are not very passionate Cyclone fans...just my experience.

Re: Perspective??
What is it going to take? Wins. Hiring FH is the first step, and it was a great move, but now we need wins. I'm not going to lie, this is the most excited I've been about Cyclone basketball in years, but the only way to convince students that basketball is worth their time is to win.

Re: Perspective??
Pretty good crowd and pretty good enthusiasm for a break game against Kennesaw State.
The Drake and Creighton games have already helped a lot. What will get it done is to keep winning and playing exciting basketball. Cyclone fans respond to that style, which helps when you're building the program.
People are starting to become convinced in Freddieball, but it's only 6 games. It'll take more than that for a lot of people. That's just how it is after what people saw the last few years.
It's a think you just can't force. It'll be a lot different come conference season.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I'll admit, I'm confused this time.

Re: Perspective??
Whatever happened to the male cheerleaders with the megaphones that always started the "DE-FENSE, clap-clap" chant? Did that die with Cyclone alley?

Re: Perspective??
I was at the last two games also.
I was really hoping the Alumni band would have brought back the Hamms theme song one last time. That would have been classic.

Re: Perspective??
For another perspective, I know several people who have not been able (or willing) to attend games the last few years that have attended more than one game already.
People around my seats in Hilton that had not planned on attending the Creighton game were convinced after the Drake game to go ahead and do it.
I think that the excitement is building with Fred, style and winning. We're gaining in tickets sold, and even Fred said that the crowd on Saturday was larger than he expected.

It's a think you just can't force. It'll be a lot different come conference season. This. If this team keeps playing the way it has been, good things will happen in terms of attendance and noise once conference play comes around and we are playing schools that people have heard of.

Re: Perspective??
Notice that the better teams have better crowds. Example: Kansas State. Their arena sucked until their team became good, and now they have a loud arena.

Re: Perspective??
I think there are two possible solutions to this problem.
1) Start many threads about how the crowd sucks, the students suck, the nachos suck, and hope that the crowd, students, and nachos get the memo and we return to our former glory overnight.
2) WIN
Option 1 has already been implemented but doesn't seem to be working. Fred is working on Option 2, will report back later.

Speaking on option #1, we've been discussing having a daily thread about this with different OPs rotating through on a schedule. Maybe if we step it up into a regular, regulated daily thread instead of something that pops up at random intervals, it will be more effective.
