Calm down guys
We knew it was going to be a tough year.
With regards to the officiating, was it one sided? Maybe but its not like we did not get any calls either. I mean 3 travels were called on UNI in the 2nd half, how often does that happen. Also, remember the Creighton game?
Bashing UNI's fans and players just makes us look silly. Oh no they said Panther Power, its not like we have ever put up billboards that said it's a Cyclone State or anything. How dare O'Rear grow a mullet to loosen things up and have some fun.
Making fun of the Panther network also makes us look silly. For one thing the picture was fine for me but either way it was nice to be able to see the game, unlike some of our football games. I would have been happy to have a network like that televise our games.
It was an ugly game for both teams and lets just move on to the Cal game.

The game was a true Instant Classic from the TV I was watching.

Re: Calm down guys
Good post....
#1 The way you dictate tempo on a team from the 1950's is press the snot out of them. We don't have the numbers to do that this year. So it didn't happen. They knew that and executed.
#2. We gave them unlimted chances to score on offensive rebounds.
#3. We didn't shoot well. We know that if we don't shoot well we don't win because of our post play is not there.
#4. The game was very close and UNI shot about 90% from the line. They were averaging in the around 68% from the line until last night. That was a huge part of UNI winning the game especially when ISU didn't get to the line as much.
#5. Foul Trouble. The refs did have a little case of yeast infection last night. BUT we have to learn to play through that.
#6. No inside outside game. ALL of UNI's 3's came on inside out. We pretty much stood around.
The main thing is we played bad and still had a great chance of winning. And it was our first Road game.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Calm down guys
I think this was a great reality check for the fan base - some here were starting to get on their high horses about how this team was already greater than we were last year because we were blowing nobodies out of the water and because Hoiberg is the coach. I think people are making too big a deal about our scout team destroying our starters in practice - that looms as a bad sign for the rest of the season.
Bottom line - I don't think we're as great as some of the opinions from the past week or two started implying, and last night proved it.

Bingo! We were tied at 52 with a chance to take the game and win it with about 2:00 minutes left. I will take those odds every time on the road, loved the effort, the defense was outstanding, foul trouble and ice cold shooting led to our loss, I absolutely love watching this team play.

Re: Calm down guys
After reading the threads right after the game last night I debated getting back on CF b/c of the "fair weather fan" type of reactions. This thread has my compliments b/c most posters here seem even-keeled and realistic. Maybe maturity or older fans? Thanks for restoring my faith in fan reality!

Re: Calm down guys
Far more people were upset over officiating than the actual loss. I don't think anyone (but the one guy) thought we would blow them out. It was a tight game in which they dictated tempo. I also think their experience showed in final minutes.
Dg was jacking up stupid shots and trying to do too much.

Re: Calm down guys
I didn't get to see the game last night.
I have been greatly impressed with our play that I have seen this year.
Being impressed with our play still didn't lead me to believe that we'll get a lot of road wins with our tissue thin roster.

Re: Calm down guys
I have never seen a cyclone message board after a loss that didn't include complaining about officials. its what "we" do.

Re: Calm down guys
Close losses will always bring about one or two calls that didn't go your way. I think its human nature to do the what could have been thing...It's not just Cyclones message boards either.
