Ken Pomeroy's Individual Ratings
Ken Pomeroy just posted his individual rate stats online in the last couple of days. http://kenpom.com/team.php?team=Iowa%20St.
It's a little early for them to really be worth anything, but one thing I noticed is that our effective height is 91st in the nation. We're still relatively tall even with Ejim at PF. JVB may not play like 6'11" but he does lead the B12 in Block Shot Rate. If he can keep that up along with the good percentages and extremely low TO rating, he'll be a valuable player for us.
One thing that's scary is that our overall offensive rating isn't that great, even with some of these guys shooting incredible percentages (Christopherson, Ejim).
Also, of note, his system picks us to lose to Iowa this Friday.

And I'd be surprised if we win at Iowa. They can control tempo.

Control tempo with what? Bad guard play?
If Iowa beats us, it will be due to the interior play and rebounding efforts of their bigs. We will control our own destiny. If ISU shoots well they can easily win this game. Our guards are light years ahead of theirs.

I think Iowa beats UNI and then we beat Iowa.

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

Agreed but it won't be because of them controlling tempo to adversely affect our game.

UNI is not that good of a team and despite us not being great, that loss shouldn't have happened. But it was on the road and we hadn't played on the road yet. Now UNI goes to Iowa. Flip a coin on who wins

Re: Ken Pomeroy's Individual Ratings
Agreed 85. UNI ain't that good. And neither is Iowa. UNI will dictate tempo again and it will be ugly as sin but UNI is on the road this time and I bet they lose.

Re: Ken Pomeroy's Individual Ratings
Flip a 3-sided coin and you'll have your winner of a 3 team tournament between UNI, Iowa, and ISU. On a neutral court, of course. Throw Drake in there and the 3-sided coin will still work.
