In our losses he's not been that big of a part. I know he's a freshman, but we really need him to show up and be a scoring threat. That's true, numbers like that are unrealistic to expect. Both teams tonight were pretty cold. Gatens is still ICE cold (not surprising, but we don't get handicap points), and our FT shooting is AWFUL right now.
UNI was also ice cold, especially from 3-point range. The vast majority of their shots were contested. UNI just still has a few shooters, and they had a cold night. But there wasn't much more that we could expect from our defense.

Re: Keeler Tweet after uni Iowa game
It'll be a 15-point loss if ISU can't score more than 36 points.
51-39?
Zzzzzzzzzz.
It sounds like the Iowa-UNI game was like watching Wisconsin play itself, with Lickliter coaching both teams, and GMac as an assistant.
It would be fun to negate the sting of losing back-to-back games to UNI and Cal than a win in Iowa City, most likely with an over-under approaching triple-digits.
That isn't my prediction —*I'm just sayin'.

Re: Keeler Tweet after uni Iowa game
Iowa-Iowa State game will have an over under around 140, and I would take the over. Realistically both teams want to run the floor, create turnovers, and get fast break points. This game will be much different than any played against UNI.

Re: Keeler Tweet after uni Iowa game
Edge is going to have to rebound like crazy in the game. He has to play his best game.
JVB better not miss his first two shots.
Need to get Godfrey in the game early.
Avoid foul trouble or else lose.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

A hawk fan thinks the hawks are going to win? Why is this newsworthy?

Not sure which Iowa team Keeler was watching, but 15 points seems like a stretch. The best was I watched the tip and UNI make their first basket. I switched to another channel for 5-10 mins came back and the score was 2-3. I missed 1 basket in 5-10 mins. Look out this Iowa team can really light people up. -
Re: Keeler Tweet after uni Iowa game
Losing by 15 would NOT shock me.
Until Ejim can show that he can be tough against halfway decent competition, we can show we can rebound, and we can shoot the ball exceptionally well on the raod... We wont win much.

Re: Keeler Tweet after uni Iowa game
Both teams are bad. Our team is not physical at all and we turn the ball over way too much. But who knows, anything can happen on any given night in college basketball. One thing that never works, is looking at the teams last game, and assuming they will play that well/bad the next game.

I don't think that is our problem: we are 21st in the country in terms of lowest turnover percentage.
We turned the ball over too much against Cal (17 times), but even then our TO% (22%) was lower than Cal's (24%) and about average for all teams on the season.

Re: Keeler Tweet after uni Iowa game
I'm with bawbie here. I don't think TOs will be our problem against Iowa. I believe that our guards will be solid enough to take care of business.
I'm thinking that we have a guard advantage, they have a frontcourt advantage, both teams want to run, so we have an interesting matchup.
IcSyU's point that Iowa hasn't beaten an opponent that scores over 60 against them is interesting. If this game gets moving, can they score enough to keep up?
If our shots aren't falling, can we get enough rebounds to keep things interesting?

If our shots aren't falling, can we get enough rebounds to keep things interesting? I agree with all of this, except I'm not sold that Iowa will try to run in this game. They haven't especially tried to slow it down much this year, but I think they will in this game, just to frustrate us (like UNI did). I think this game will be in the 60's somewhere.
Generally good guard play will be good frontcourt play, but not always. I have a feeling this game will come down to free throws, and (unfortunately) Iowa is due to have a game where they don't miss from the line (they are shooting 64% on the year right now).

Wasn't UNI around 64ish% before they found the magic?
We need a coach that teaches free throw defense! (I hope this doesn't need jimlad). Or at least converting opportunities between free throws.
