Wasn't UNI around 64ish% before they found the magic?
We need a coach that teaches free throw defense! (I hope this doesn't need jimlad). Or at least converting opportunities between free throws.
Would it make you feel better if I pointed out that Iowa (76%) is even worse at free throw defense than we are(74%)? Even after UNI went 3-8 from the line last night.
Also, SEMO was shooting under 60% before they went 15-19 against us on Monday.
There is actually one aspect of FT defense that is controllable by the defense-that is who gets fouled and shoots the FTs.If you keep fouling the best FT shooters on a team the odds are they will make a higher % as a team. But even that isn't always the case.

That helps a lot more than it should. I'll stop sending boxes to Fred's office for packing.
I watched the game last night, and I am pretty sure we will lose unless we shoot a very high percentage. Iowa has an inside game and they are well coached. Plus, nobody on our team is from Iowa (except Bubu) and therefore Iowa will have somewhat of an emotional edge.
If it's a 3 point shooting contest, I like ISU. I also think ISU has the edge driving the lane and dishing -- if they can finish. I also like ISU's overall team speed over Iowa.
UI has the edge on the glass so if it turns into a grinder half court game with lots of rebounds, you have to give them the edge.
Before the season started I think most everyone here thought this would be an ugly loss. Then, we saw what South Dakato State and Long Beach State did and.....whoa, looks like a win. Now that they beat UNI....oh no! Well, they may have uglied UNI......but they aren't better than California. Keep the bigs out of foul trouble.......JVB gets his touch back.......we will be fine.
