Stay on for at least two more years, Bobby!
Loved reading the diary entry but came out with one burning question. How big is Mr. Lutz? In that picture, Bubu looks like Shaq, standing next to him.
He's not saying that the ISU players are doing better. He is saying that his players always do worse in the second semester versus the first, which makes sense.
I think he was trying to say that he's never seen guys do better in the spring semester than they did in the fall semester because of the additional travel and missed classes. That's why it's important that thy missed very few classes in the fall - they'll need good grades this semester to help their GPA's since the spring semester will be more challenging academically.

I was wondering what he meant by second semester with that, since it is finals week for fall semester this week. Very good and enlightening read. Thanks for the link.
I had a brief conversation with Coach Lutz in a clothing store the other day, him and his wife were stocking up on Iowa State clothes for Christmas presents. He's a heck of a nice guy and from everything I have seen from being at all the games is a great coach and is well liked by all the players.
To answer your height question, I'm 5'10'' and he was probably the same height as me.
It was probably a poor choice of words in his bio to refer to Freddy as "mentor" since bringing Coach Lutz in was to serve as something of a mentor for the brand new head coach.
I like the way Fred doesn't sit at the end of the bench like some head coaches do. He sits smack dab in the middle of all of his coaches so they can all contribute to the success of the team during the game. It's apparent that he is listening to them - it's working.
We need to get a campaign going to bring back the 'stache!

You have to remember that 5'10" is short when your around men that are 6'4" to 6'11".
