Re: Our BB schedule is a disgrace
Schedules can come and bite you in the *** sometimes.
Are you old enough to remember the BAM line?

Re: Our BB schedule is a disgrace
Basketball scheduling has to be one of the more misunderstood topics among cyclone fans. There really isn't as much flexibility as you think.
We have the three in-state schools, Big12/Pac10 challenge game, an exempt "tournament" (2 cupcakes + creighton). That's seven games. We scheduled a home-home with Virginia, so that leaves seven "guarantee" games (we pay the visitor) to load up the home schedule, which is necessary for revenue purposes.
So if we were to schedule a few more BCS home-homes, then what do we do the years we have to play the road games? We're short home games for revenue purposes. And let's face it, BCS home-homes are difficult for us to schedule because we're not a "name" team and coaches know Hilton isn't easy to win at.
It would be nice if we could get invites to the better "exempt" tourneys (coaches v cancer, preseason NIT, maui, disney, other espn tourneys, etc.) but for now we're not on the list.
Next year things get tougher with two more b12 games, although we do lose the pac-10 challenge game. So next year its the 3 in-states, UVA at home, South Padre tourney, and a bunch of cupcakes. Hopefully we can land one more home-home against a decent opponent and play on ESPN.

So I ask...what is the point?
Playing a cupcake schedule certainly isn't good for season ticket holders. And it sure as heck isn't going to fool the polls or the computers either. Nor will it prepare us for a Big 12 Conference schedule. So is it just supposed to make us feel better about ourselves because it makes our record look better?
Thoughts?

Re: Our BB schedule is a disgrace
You've got to be freaking kidding me. We have a team that is very, very limited. The thing to do is try and build some confidence and hope that we get used to winning.
We play enough tough teams with the instate schools and the Big 12. No need to play any more tough teams.

Dead? 10 3s

We won by 41.
I've been out of my seat more this year than any other season. I just wished the football team followed this idea.
I dont get why more people dont enjoy watching ISU play well and pound teams. Well worth the money.

Or is it like football where it's more like 5?
Also, does anyone know where the OP got his stats on our schedule being the 3rd easiest? I found 4 BCS schools with worse SOS than ours on Kenpom.

News flash. The attendance has been like that for conference games for the last 4 years too.
I sat in CA during 4 conf basketball games last year because it was so empty and there were 10 rows wide open to sit in.

I'd rather go 11-2 against Northwest Timbuktu State and Southeast Nowhere State than lose to teams like Duke.

Some things they know about way ahead of time but for the most part the gaps are filled between March and Aug.
