Re: Per Randy Peterson: DeMarcus Phillips to transfer
We will be thin but we still have 9 players that can play 8 of which can give you solid minutes. Teams usually run around 8 man rotations so really we are going to be fine. From here out our starters were going to be playing most of the minutes anyway.

Re: Per Randy Peterson: DeMarcus Phillips to transfer
I was really hoping Phillips would work out, but we really arent going to miss his 5 minutes of play a night. I think he is much better than he showed us, hope he gets to show that somewhere else.

Re: Per Randy Peterson: DeMarcus Phillips to transfer
This is should be no surprise to anyone that has seen the team play. I can't remember exactly which home game it was, but Phillips came in at the end and literally played like he didn't even care. The rest of the team was still diving for loose balls and playing defense, while Phillips literally ran up and down the court while staring at his feet.
I don't care if we are up 30 pts, if you come off the bench you should go in the game with something to prove. Based on his attitude and play this season, I believe the coaching staff had done the right thing to keep him on the bench.
A question to anyone: how does this affect his eligibility for next year? Does he still sit out a year if leaves now? If so, then why not finish the season with ISU? That way he doesn't lose out on conditioning and practice time?

Re: Per Randy Peterson: DeMarcus Phillips to transfer
If he transfers to D1 school he will be eligible at semester next season, much like the Rutgers kid that transfered to Creighton. D2 He can play right away.

Re: Per Randy Peterson: DeMarcus Phillips to transfer
maybe GMac still wants him?

That way he doesn't lose out on conditioning and practice time? You're right about Phillips' effort. I noticed this big time in the Chicago State game. My dad even picked it up on TV. You'd think that in that specific scenario, Phillips would be going it all out in attempt to move up the play rotation.
Not sure on his eligibility for next year.
And, I'd be VERY surprised if Greg takes a run at him from Creighton. I don't see that happening.

Re: Per Randy Peterson: DeMarcus Phillips to transfer
i highly doubt DP's poor attitude/work ethic just suddenly showed up late this year. i'm sure FH knew he had issues long before the injury, especially considering his poor academic background. there's a reason we signed 3 guards, and oversigned by 1. great move by FH.

Good luck DP, hope it works out for you.
Thank god Bubu is playing well, love watching him play. I can't remember what game is was, but McKnight had just gotten in at the end. Hoiberg was trying to get Bubu to slow it down, but he was determined to get McKnight some points.
Good stuff out of a young point guard. I think he's going to be a guy that is hard to keep off the court in the future.

Re: Per Randy Peterson: DeMarcus Phillips to transfer
I only just wish he would have waited until the end of the year in case we needed him. We're starting three of our four guards.

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
