    ISU better off w/o Barnes?

I have no idea who this guy is, but he thinks ISU may be better off without Harrison Barnes. Sorry if this has been posted before; I know how some of you are.

Re: ISU better off w/o Barnes?

The ONLY reason I think it worked out for ISU is because Mac left. If Barnes goes to ISU maybe Greg decides to take his son and, of course, stays. Long term that would be worse.

If Barnes was here with Fred I see no down side.

We'd still have McDermott and none of the transfers that are making up next year's team, so yeah, I think we're better off w/out him.

If McDermott couldn't sniff the NIT with Brackins' NBA talent why would he make the tournament with Barnes?

I prefer to stay away from this whole thing. Harrison went to UNC who wouldn't have with the program we had at the time.

This guy acts like HB has been a Ryan Leaf level bust. Spare me. He's still a damn good player and is going to have a nice career in the Association.

And to echo what everyone else said, I've always viewed it that losing out on HB was the price we had to pay to rid ourselves of Mac. A high price to pay, yes, but something that will work out better for us in the long run.

I agree with others; Barnes comes to ISU and McDermott is still here.

I'll take our current setup 99 out of 100 times...

Cm'n, take a stand or form an opinion. HB would have helped with nine players.

You're kidding me, right? This is a no-brainer. ISU would benefit greatly from Barnes' presence. He will only last one year in college, so he would have served as a great bridge to next year's transfers.

Well this guy went to school just down the road in Columbia and the only two towns he can name in Iowa are Ames and Council Bluffs? I think that says everything you need to know about his intelligence.

No way. If Barnes comes to Ames Mcdermott stays 2 extra year and we would not have got White, Allen, Babb, and Booker.

Re: ISU better off w/o Barnes?

I don't know how you guys are reading this article. I think the author makes a good point. When a top recruit is struggling at a marquee program, the player is the one shouldering the blame, as he should be. But had he come to ISU, and had trouble, it would be ISU that would be the reason, not Barnes. The program that had NBA talent like Wesley Johnson bail and become an AA at Syracuse, and an unknown 1st rounder in Brackins who blew up on the combine scene but played in obscurity here with more losses than wins. I agree with him that Barnes struggling at ISU would have been a far bigger blight on our program than his struggles will be for UNC. They won't even register for that team in the long run.

Barnes did ISU a huge favor, we just didn't know it at the time. How he is playing has nothing to do with it.

Better yet, Harrison does poorly (relative) at NC and decides to transfer to ISU to play for Freddie.

How HB was ever placed on the 1st team AA is beyond me. If the voters want to go by potential, go second team. This placed a lot of no win pressure on the kid.
