Calvin Godfrey
Have we ever had a big man with his combination of size, quickness and agility? He needs to add more offense if he hopes to make it to the NBA, and if that isn't in his future I wonder if CPR would give him a look as a d-lineman in his 5th year. Could he be our next Stevie Johnson?

Re: Calvin Godfrey
I'm really enjoying watching his growth.
It's hard to outwork that guy out there, and he's improving his defense while adding a little bit of offense. I think his ceiling is fairly high.

It has to help to have Royce and Booker to practice against

Could he be our next Stevie Johnson? Is this a trick question? Fizer had all these attributes and offensive prowess when he was on campus. He was just out of shape his first two seasons. Godfrey reminds me a lot of James Hamilton back on the Orr/Floyd teams(in the old Big 8). He was not offensively capable, but I remember him getting his head over the rim to swat a shot by Big Country Reeves back then. He was a great guy coming off the bench, and I think that will be Godfrey's role in the future.

Re: Calvin Godfrey
I think if Godfrey can stay cool during heated moments he'll be a perfect fit.

Re: Calvin Godfrey
I love "The Godfather". We wouldnt nearly have the record we do without him. He gets all these fast breaks and I can't believe he doesn't get caught or knocked on his *** as he finishes. He can start over the notorious JVB anyday imo.

Re: Calvin Godfrey
Maybe if he starts hitting 3's like JVB. Completely crazy to even think that.

I love "Godsmack", but he shouldn't be starting over Jamie anyday.

Re: Calvin Godfrey
JVB needs to start. We need that extra shooting threat.
But I do get excited every time Godfrey goes to the scorers' table.

Re: Calvin Godfrey
Offensively Fizer was obviously head and shoulders above Calvin, though Fizer did develop a lot after his freshman year. But I really think Calvin is quicker and a little more athletic, as well as a couple of inches taller. My point was also that if he doesn't develop the offense he needs for the NBA, he's got a great body and athletic tools to look at as a football player. Maybe a too tall Jones type. Imo it's worth keeping an eye on if I'm CPR.

Anyone remember?

Re: Calvin Godfrey
JVB needs to start because of his 3 point shooting...but if JVB didn't have that, i'd be all for Godfrey out there. Godfrey has a way better work ethic under the hoop already then JVB.

Re: Calvin Godfrey
I love what CG brings to the game. I have to keep reminding myself that he is only a freshman. I brought two ISU novices to the game with me last night and assured them before the game that CG would at least attempt to throw down once tonight. He delivered in a big way!
