Ejim vs Gilstrap
If you had to win a game tomorrow, which player would you take...Ejim or Gilstrap? Just something that popped in my mind

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Good question. I think I'd go with Ejim, as he plays within himself, and within the team concept. He also has a calm and maturity about him that is well beyond his years.
In fact, if I was picking one of them to build a team around, it would be Ejim for sure.

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Very tough question... Gilstrap was explosive, but often times could get careless while trying to create. Ejim takes high percentage shots, and doesn't try to do more than what he is capable of.... Edge goes to Ejim

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Where is Gilstrap playing these days?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Ejim is a much better ball handler and plays better defense.

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
The question was if there was a game to win tomorrow.....
you go Gilstrap.
But Ejim has a WAY...... higher ceiling for potential than Gilstrap IMO
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Tomorrow? A healthy Scotty. "Missouri is free to create an enduring basketball rivalry with Auburn." -

Right now, Gilstrap averaged 2 pts/game more and averaged 2 reb/game more. BUT he averaged 2 more turnovers and Ejim is averaging double in steals.
And let's be realistic, Gilstrap was asked to score points where as Ejim is being asked to be more of a role player right now.

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Tomorrow, I would take Gilstarp. A few years from now, there is no question in my mind I'm probably going to rather have Ejim

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Ejim. I haven't watched a single game this year, but looking at his stat lines and reading the pub on him, it appears to me that Ejim is a much more well rounded player. 'Strap had game, but he had a lot of off nights.

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
I am going with Gilstrap being coached by Hoiberg. You have to realize how all the players that returned and look good this year(Garret, Chistopherson, JVB) looked pretty pathetic playing for McD. Wesley Johnson looked unoccupied most of the time his two years here, then he transferred and was an instant AA. I am pretty sure Brackins and Gilstrap playing for Hoiberg, with a little Lutz assistance, would be top Big 12 performers. Gilstrap was also more proficient at rebounding, longer than Ejim, and all around better at the 4(where I think Ejim is better at the 3). Since we need a 4 more than a 3, I am going with Gilstrap.

Either way, I would make sure that I was not excited.

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Gilstrap. No question about it. Ejim has been great and is a better ball handler than Gilstrap but he is still raw when taking it to the hoop. I think Gilstrap would have been a better fit for this get out and run offense. Plus he shoots the 3 a little better than Ejim at this point.
With that said, Ejim will be a better player when he is a junior than Gilstrap was as a senior. Both good players who I am glad where/are Cyclones

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Gilstrap would've been awesome in FH's offense. Great rebounder, fast on the break, and could finish. How many times did we watch Gilstrap try to drive a clogged lane? He'd be a completely different player under FH. I like Ejim too, just hard to compare given how different the offenses were.

Re: Ejim vs Gilstrap
Ejim shoots 3% higher FT than Gilstrap. I don't think that is a good piece to the argument.
Gilstrap averaged 9 rebounds and we played at a slower pace last year and had Craig Brackins. He would average 11 rebounds at this point this year IMO.
Gilstrap was a stronger as he should be being 4 years older than Ejim.
Gilstrap was a tad more athletic (vertically) and could do really well with the improved spacing that this ISU team has over last year.
So this year it is Gilstrap. Going forward Ejim is the better looking prospect
