Re: ***Official Post Game Thread - ISU vs. Nebraska***
I really loved the effort, and thought we deserved to win. A few calls go our way and we aren't having this discussion. But, knowing Nebraska is a very good defensive team, and seeing us IMO outplay them in there building tells me we really are on the right track. Great effort clones.

You have Christopherson, Anderson, and DG on the floor, and you put it on the freshman. The job of the coach is to put players in the best position to succeed. We failed to do that in the last 3 minutes last night. 37 minutes of Hoiberg ball had us a 4 point lead. 3 minutes of McDermott ball lead us to a 1 point loss.
Did we look tired? Absolutely, but so did Nebraska. We made it easy for them by turning it over and letting them set a defense instead of going after transition buckets. Nebraska played 40 minutes. We played about 32. We were bad out of the gate, and we were bad at the end. Not going to win many games that way.
And people need to realize foul count doesn't mean squat. If one team is driving to the bucket every possession, and the other team is settling for jump shots all the time, there's going to be a discrepancy in fouls.
You need to be realistic about this season. The cuboard is bare and anything good that happens is a bonus. Same things happen next season with a full compliment of players and I'll listen to the complaints. Fred and company are doing a great job with what they've got and any comparison to Mac is a complete insult. We've got 8 players with a couple not ready, one hurt, and one suspended for the game and we should have pulled out a Big 12 road game. No complaints on this end.

This was not the first, nor will it be the last, trip to Lincoln that ends in some unorthodox fashion.
Undermanned, DG has his worst game of the season, Nebraska is playing their best ball in 15 years (really not saying much), some blind striped horses, and only lose by one. Can't say I'm surprised or disappointed.
Some of you ( you know who you are) are way off base and almost seem to enjoy flying off the handle every time ISU has a poor outing. I would hate to see what happens when things don't go well in your personal lives. It can't be good.

Actually it was our last trip to Lincoln (at least as conference opponents).
Re: ***Official Post Game Thread - ISU vs. Nebraska***
I went to the game and have several comments.
DON'T BLAME THE REFS. Being around husker fans a lot (mostly football fans) I am sick of hearing that the refs cost anyone a game. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but it didn't here and usually bad calls can be overcome by good play. Better shooting, offensive rebounds, more depth. That would have won the game.
There was some jerk arse husker fan sitting behind me yelling the whole second half at the refs for not calling fouls on ISU when nu had the ball. Even if they were playing 2 feet off the ball. "WATCH THEIR HANDS REF" "THEY HAVE THEIR HANDS ALL OVER THEM" "HE JUST RAPED HIM". "WHERE ARE THESE REFS FROM, TEXAS". Obviously a bigger football fan. When ISU had the ball and an nu player was guarding him i couldn't resist yelling in a voice imitating the arse "WATCH THEIR HANDS REF". My girlfriend requested that I not do that anymore and in the interest in having a good evening I obliged.
DG needs to distribute the ball more.
I can't wait until ISU has a big guy to play in the paint.
I can't wait until nu fans travel to Iowa City.

Great game last night. We played a LOT closer than I thought we could. Foul trouble will cost us every time.
With that kind of effort this team could hopefully put togther 4-5 Big 12 wins, which would be amazing.
DG was great last night, since nobody else on the team can score. Id like to see him put up 15-17 shots per game. At least until Scotty is healthy again

This is true.
Re: ***Official Post Game Thread - ISU vs. Nebraska***
For anybody who still can't understand what exactly went wrong in Lincoln could really use a refresher in recent history. Look at the box scores for all the games in Lincoln from, let's say 1998. Outside of a couple games, this game has always been a mess. Read the recaps if you have time. Something disturbing always happens, sometimes to us, sometimes to them. It has been determined for quite some time that when ISU enters Lincoln, the product will not be gold.
Re: ***Official Post Game Thread - ISU vs. Nebraska***
Foul trouble and a decent to good inside game is going to be tough for this team to overcome given our depleted number of bodies and lack of post play.
Kudos to UNL for winning the game but they should have beat us by 10+ given their size, home cooking, and numbers. Our guys were better coached and played much harder. I still like this team and am optimistic they will win a game or two they aren't supposed to win.
UNL plays pretty decent defense but really lack talent. If I thought for a minute that we would be fielding a team that looks like that UNL team in year five of our coach's tenure I'd be depressed.
