Obviously we don't have Duke's personnel, but I like the way they spread the floor. With the 4 down low, it seems like the minute DG starts his move, all 5 defenders converge, and our guys are bunched up. The lane is clogged. Having JVB would have helped, if we had him, SC, and Edge on the 3 point line it would have really opened things up for DG.

... can we still extend McDermott's contract !!!

Our team did exactly the right thing at the end EXCEPT for DG dribbling straight into 4 people and losing the ball.
I was hoping to God that we would burn as much clock as possible. That last possession, you have to have the mind to either hold onto it, or get a shot off. You CANNOT dribble to ball into 5 people with 4 seconds left!! Either get a shot off, or do nothing and go to OT! Hell, as long as you don't lose it, if they're trying to grab it from you while you're holding the ball there's at least a chance they could commit a dumb foul.
Ugh, that game still burns me up, especially considering if we don't foul at the end, the game goes into OT because the Nebraska guy waited too long to try to get a layup off, so he clanks it hard off the rim.
But I have no problem with burning as much clock as possible at the end like we did. And let's face it, at the end of games, our guys are gonna be gassed and any team that plays ANY defense is going to make us look like we're slowing it down, whether we are or not.
Either way, I disagree that it was the wrong thing to do, and anybody that even jokes about having McDermott back is an idiot..

Did you notice that other than to end the first half, for the bulk of the last 5-6 minutes of the game, we ran a three man weave up top? It wasn't as crisp as what Duke does and we may not of run it as well as Duke does, but it led to some easy baskets and worked a hell of a lot better than the 4-low set.
That was exactly what I was talking about after the Nebraska game.

We did switch it up and it worked out well. Diante gave the ball up and Jamie hit a big shot.

Yep, Freddie did exactly the right thing with about 7 minutes left in the game and we were up either 11 or 13. We ran at least 25 seconds off the clock on each possession. Unless they got hot from three-point range, Baylor didn't have enough possessions left to catch up.

That was exactly what I was talking about after the Nebraska game. I recall getting one basked out of that which could be considered "easy". I also recall us turning it over.
It was more effective than what we did against Nebraska. We also had a much larger lead...at home.

You also failed to mention the opportunities created by running the motion weave, which got JVB an open look in the corner, which I would say is a fairly high percentage shot.
As for the turnover, it was a case of one guy dribbling too much, which is exactly what they were trying to get away from in the 4-low set. Running that motion weave for the first time this season, I'd say they executed well.
Plain and simple, the staff made the correct adjustment and implemented the motion weave and it was and will continue to be far more effective than the 4-low set.
