Release: Johnny Orr Festivities For Kansas Game
AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State Athletics Department will honor Johnny Orr, one of its most legendary coaches in school history at tonight’s Iowa State vs. Kansas basketball game.
Itinerary of events:
1 p.m.: Coach Orr and his family will gather at a private ceremony for the unveiling of a larger-than-life statue of Orr and the grand-opening of “Johnny’s At Hilton Coliseum.” This ceremony is NOT open to the public. However, cyclones.com will broadcast the event live on the internet.
7 p.m.: Doors open to Hilton Coliseum and fans can view the statue of Orr and memorabilia of his coaching career displayed in the trophy cases outside of “Johnny’s” (east concourse) for the first time.
7:45 p.m.: A video tribute of Coach Orr and will be shown on the videoboard, followed by a short presentation honoring Coach Orr at midcourt. Make sure you are in your seat at that time!
8:05 p.m.: Tip-off for Iowa State vs. No. 3 Kansas on ESPN2.
Promotions:
Gold Rules Day: Tonight’s game vs. Kansas is “Gold Rules” day. Fans are encouraged to wear Gold colored attire to the game.
Free Team Poster: The Iowa State Athletics Department will hand out a free commemorative poster featuring the 2010-11 Cyclone men’s basketball team. Posters will be available in the concourse of Hilton Coliseum.

I for one cannot wait until tonight. My son gets to see the man who started Hilton Magic. For my son to have a chance to see Johnny come out to the Tonight Show theme sone is going to be special. Probably the last chance for any of us to see it.

This! I haven't seen anywhere that says they are doing it, but it would be dumb for them not to do it. Haven't been this excited for an Iowa State game and festivities in a long time!

This is what I was hoping also!!! Being on ESPN2 you know you won't see it there and I would like to watch the pregame ceremony they have for him. I would have loved to be there but I have to work late tonight so will be in the office until around tip off :realmad:
I'm 30 so all I know is ISU basketball from Johnny forward and am very glad they are honoring him tonight... He deserves every bit of it.
