Re: GODFREY: A pleasent surprise?
He is like a mini Cato. After the all the players not living up the last few years any Fresh that comes in and helps the team win is a pleasent suprise.

Re: GODFREY: A pleasent surprise?
His post moves will improve as he gets experience. Like most bigs, his defense is ahead of his offense. I love the energy

Re: GODFREY: A pleasent surprise?
He reminds me of a guy Iowa had come off the bench in the late 80s.
Kent Hill was a short burly post player recruited by Raveling. Explosive high energy guy that in spurts is a very effective post player. I think Godfrey and Railey will be a great combo for us off the bench the next 2 years behind White and Booker.

Re: GODFREY: A pleasent surprise?
Clearly. One point and rebound shy of a double-double last night. Kid just works hard - love his effort and being in the right spot. So far, not hitting the freshman wall (Ejim looks to be a bit) - but he doesn't play as many minutes as Ejim.
This kid gets bigger in the offseason and we have someone we can really depend upon for the future.
Fun thing is, he's dependable now!

Re: GODFREY: A pleasent surprise?
agree that Ejim may be hitting a bit of a wall. It could be just a matter of who he's been facing.

And maybe that makes what Godfrey's doing more remarkable.

Re: GODFREY: A pleasant surprise?
ejim needs a rest. dude has been giving it up so not a surprise. it looks like jake might be hitting one a little as well. not sure how to handle that if your hoiberg.

Re: GODFREY: A pleasant surprise?
Perhaps we could see more minutes of an Ejim, Godfrey, JVB front-court. Rotating Godfrey in more would give Ejim and the guards more time to rest, plus help us battle more inside.
Of course, in games like yesterday, it was not needed.

Re: GODFREY: A pleasant surprise?
Ejim is hitting the Freshman playing out of position in the Big 12 wall.
Godfrey played great. One problem with him though. When he gets the offensive rebound he seems so excited that he rushes his shot. When he gets more comfortable, look out.

I don't know if they're hitting a wall, or if they're just letting the game come to them. It's not like any of them are forcing a bunch of bad shots.

I am thinking White is teaching our team how to rebound in practice. I have been impressed with as well as we do this year rebounding against bigger people.

And maybe that makes what Godfrey's doing more remarkable. The wall is called conference play when people try hard to win.
