    Re: CFH was not happy

Wow, I just watched the postgame presser and, that was probably the only positive of the nite. Love the fire from Fred.

    Re: CFH was not happy

I listened to the radio and watched the press conference and if anything he was more ticked off during the radio interview. There was one point when John and Eric paused kind of awkwardly and didn't know what to say.

I don't know what the problem was last night. Part of it, is that I think Tech is actually kind of talented and could exploit us. Most of it was complete and total lack of effort. The big question is what is the difference between a month ago when our effort was great and the last 2 games when it has been crap? I don't know. Poor Fred will have to figure it out.

    Re: CFH was not happy

Not happy is an understatement. I can't tell you how much this excited me. Fred won't put up with this kind of effort and can't wait to see us against OU. If he was that mad talking to the media, imagine with the players.

    Fred:

Sit the guys that don't want to play hard and put some players out there that will.

Personally, I've seen enough of JVB just getting out of the way on defense. I can understand the thought that he has to stay out of foul trouble and there is a fine line with that, but at least play SOME defense. Just don't give up on that end of the floor because you don't want to pick up a foul. Defense is about effort. Period. Rich Glas, former UND head coach and coach of current UNI head coach Ben Jacobson, once told me that exact same thing and that Ben was his best defensive player he ever coached. Not because of freakish athleticism but because of his effort and that he would not be beaten by his man during a game. He wouldn't allow it. In alot of ways I see this in his coaching and his teams. I really would like us to get to this point. When teams come to Hilton they know they're in for a battle.

I'm not about making excuses, but Jamie was tweeting earlier in the week that he was sick. Maybe that had something to do with the effort.

Fred's big problem is that he doesn't have a lot of options to mess with the lineup. He did mention on the post game show that Calvin was giving good effort and he was going to have to look at video to see if a lineup change needed to be made.

But I do agree that hearing Hoiberg like that last night was the ONLY good thing that happened.

Yet you are.... DG had the flu and still continued to be the most productive guy on the floor.

We needed a stuffer on defense right in front of the basket and we did not have one.One more career game for an opponent.

Guess this answers the question if we should recruit for tougher talent from New York.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

Tell that to McDoormat, Fred has brough in 2 extremely talented big men for next year who are more than capable of filling that role.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."
    -Wally Burnham on Jake Knott
