LE, JP & Fred ?
Last spring after Fred was hired by Jamie Pollard, there was an article about Larry E. that said he was willing to talk to Jamie Pollard about coaching candidates if Jamie wanted to. Larry did not want the job, but would have provided insight who might be a good candidate.
Does anybody know if JP actually talked to Larry?
In advance, thanks.

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
Im pretty sure the first thing JP did was go see Fred

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
Larry did offer, but JP was on his way to Fred's house by then.
Nice move by LE to offer though.

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
Imo once we knew Fred wanted the job, it was a no brainer. I doubt we would have got many if any good candidates considering the mess GMac left, and fans would be very patient with Fred. As it looks now, we may not have to be patient long before we have good teams again. So far Fred has been everything and more than we could have expected.

I dont think jp talked to him. I remember jp saying it was a nice offer but no thanks.

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
Very cool to hear how much respect LE has for ISU, even after his (undeserved, in my opinion) ouster as head coach.

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
I know for a fact that LE and JP spoke. LE said, "Let me Mayor coach!"

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
There were a couple of articles on it the week CFH got the job. If I remember correctly, i think Pollard called LE and asked if he was interested. He declined, said he likes it where he is at (less stress i think). Then he said that he would go over a few ppl with him, and LE suggested Freddy, I think the convo lasted a couple of hrs tho. I googled it a little and couldnt find any articles tho.

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
I just looked through the archives and the link to the article wasn't available anymore, but that LE called JP and asked if he wanted his advice on who to hire. From the way the thread went, must have been in good favor of Freddy. So no we didn't call him or offer him... my bad. But they did talk.

Re: LE, JP & Fred ?
The only thing that Jamie Pollard did was to start driving to the Twin Cities. I can assure you that Jamie didn't talk with Larry Eustacy.
I loved having LE as my b-ball coach and he could surely provide some good insight on Cyclone basketball for Jamie or possibly a different perspective on what it takes to win conference championships.
I really like having Fred as my b-ball coach....Go FreddieBall....
