While Morale is Low

I predict our basketball team pulls off two upsets to match these two losses. As much as terrible 3 pt shooting has killed us in close losses at home, I believe at some point we will get a couple close wins due to outstanding 3 point shooting. It is the law of averages.

It isn't a huge consolation as it is looking like no postseason play for us, but if we can be beat by an underdog, there is no reason to think we can't win playing as an underdog.

I agree with the possibility of your main point, although you may need to define "upset." At this point, KSU, NU & CU games at home are the only games that seem in non-upset territory, so it almost seems like any game could qualify as an upset.

This team is not a world-beater, but seems to have too many positives that it feels like some unlikely wins should come to balance the so-close frustration.

If it does happen, I'd like it to come in one of two ways:

1. A narrow win or two when the team finally puts all the pieces together — preferably this week, just to briefly delay the "wait til next year" mode.

2. An absolute stunner, like winning at KU or UT.

I have a feeling the law-of-averages thing will pile into one place: a 35-point win over Colorado at home.

I think a good mark at this point is to finish with a winning record.

I'm pretty certain that the law of averages does not apply to Iowa State athletics. For every one good thing that happens to an ISU team, there must be at least two bad things that also happen.

As long as we / IA State win one more game at Hilton and one more game on the road, I'll be satisfied with this b-ball season.


Anyone remember Wayne Morgan winning @ Kansas / Allen Fieldhouse or @ Texas / Frank Erwin Center?

Both of those wins were unexpected and I would NOT be surprized if we won tomorrow night at CU.....
