Visit Recap: Lucious sees opportunity in Ames, more on Marquette
Talked to Korie Lucious earlier today. Here is a recap of his recent visit. He plans on taking a trip to Marquette sometime over the next few weeks.

Nice write up Chris.
Fred should really be able to sell DG's improvement to incoming guards.
Re: Visit Recap: Lucious sees opportuinty in Ames, more on Marquette
I like how pretty much ever recruit that visits here mentions Fred's NBA experience and how that could help them. That should be a big recruiting pitch to potential recruits.
Re: Visit Recap: Lucious sees opportuinty in Ames, more on Marquette
It kinda sounds like to me that he is Marquette's to lose.

Two questions:
Allen is planned to run the point next year, then (at least as of this moment)?
Do we know Lucious' eligibility situation? Sit out all of next year? Chance to graduate and play right away? Long shot, I know.

No Fred said that is not the case. He expects McGee or the freshmen to be playing point.
Re: Visit Recap: Lucious sees opportuinty in Ames, more on Marquette
I was basing that off of this quote from Lucious in Chris' article:
Quote:
“They said that what Diante is doing this year is what I will be able to do,” Lucious said. “When I talked with Coach Hoiberg, he told me that what Diante is doing now is what he has planned for Chris (Allen).”
Re: Visit Recap: Lucious sees opportuinty in Ames, more on Marquette
As of now, Lucious would not be eligible next year.
Go back and read the story that I wrote about McGee last week. I think he'll start at the 1, but Fred said that he has visions of a team with multiple ball handlers, with Chris Allen being one of them.

Really? I'd say the exact opposite after reading that article. I think he's ours to lose.

I took the Allen quote to mean more of a reinvigorating your college career to become a more attractive pro, rather than becoming THE PG. I think McGee, Allen, Bubu and Sledge will see some time orchestrating the offense. A lot of the dribble, drive and kick stuff. I don't see that group having a traditional PG in that sense and that can be used to their advantage.
Re: Visit Recap: Lucious sees opportuinty in Ames, more on Marquette
Has Fred made any comments about where the scholarship would come from for Lucious?

Follow up question for the NBA guru...
True or false, many NBA teams don't really even appear to have a designated point guard that plays in the role that is typically pre-defined by most. Meaning, any one of 3 or 4 guys can bring the ball up the court and once the offense is initiated it's game on. Thought being that as long as you have a couple of guys that you can iso and create their shot or a shot for a teammate off the bounce that they are probably also good enough to bring it up the court, even against pressure.
Is that where we're headed? If so, I love the flexibility and interchangeable pars.

This. Our idea of who is the actual PG will change. We'll have 2 or 3 guys that will bring the ball up at any time.

I disagree.
I think CFH had some great cards to play. He had great selling points and made them.
And Lucious still said things like this about Marquette:
Quote:
They are a traditional winner,” Lucious said. “It would be a great opportunity for me to go home and play in front of friends and family.
It seems to me that if all things are equal, he goes to Marquette. I could be totally wrong though. I hope I'm wrong!
Re: Visit Recap: Lucious sees opportuinty in Ames, more on Marquette
Here's the thing about Marquette. Nobody even knows if they have officially offered Lucious. They could be bringing him in "just in case." Who knows? That's how college basketball recruiting is. Fairly shady at times. Lucious has an actual offer on the table from ISU. I'd bet that he won't know that for sure about Marquette until he actually visits.
