    Sledge moved to shooting guard

And promptly dropped 35 in win. Interesting.

Not sure that I like that. I love that he can score, but I'm really hoping he is our PG the next four years. Just hope he has the skill set to run the point, and is not just a scoring guard.

We should be loaded enough with good ball handlers that he doesn't have to play point all the time

Hopefully this move was only because his team needed him as more as a scorer.

Edit: After reading the article, it looks as if that was somewhat the case. I like that he was the one that everyone was standing around and watching while they were on their skid.

That's true, and I think Fred wants to have a system where there is no true point guard and we have several ball handlers on the floor. His height is going to limit who he can play on the floor with though, it's going to be hard to have Sledge and another 6' or below guard on the floor at the same time. Of course, whether he plays 1 or 2 in high school isn't going to change this.

I'm still a little skeptical of his ability to defend Big 12 guards, and if he can't stop people, he's going to have a hard time getting playing time.

There's quite a few guys his size playing big time ball. I have no idea how he compares though.

Terrible problem for Fred to have... Do I have him score, defend, assist...

It's good to see Sledge making the move and contributing so much.

Re: Sledge moved to shooting guard

Having never seen him play, and only watching his highlight video, I think his ball handling and quickness will be very good and will be the least of our concerns at PG. Size, decision making, leadership are the questions that are still up in the air.

Re: Sledge moved to shooting guard

I like having several combo guards vs just one ball handler anyways. Makes for a more versatile team.

True. I just hate having guys who are called 'combo' guards because they aren't really that good at anything special.

Versus a guy who is actually really good at handling and getting a shot.

He's a PG in college, he should be playing PG now. Don't hurt his development in high school to win one more game. JMO.

Same could be said for us not redshirting Eric. A coach can and should do what he can to win.
