Williams Blog: No quit in these Cyclones

I was VERY impressed with the team last night. Six scholarship players saw time and 3 freshmen outrebounded one of the top rebounding teams in America. Proves how much this team loves playing for Fred Hoiberg.

I am really impressed with these guys and wish they had a few more wins to show for it, more for them than for me as a fan.

It was a great game to watch last night. Saw a couple other ISU fans in attendance. Crowd overall was beyond bad (~4-5000) and was only really loud 2 or 3 possessions. Their coach even called the fans out during the postgame.

Great stuff Chris. This team keeps playing hard, and coming so close. Dendy would mean the world to this team right now.

I wonder if their forum had a multiple thread meltdown like us.

YES!!! Couldn't agree more...my wife was just puzzled by how happy I was after the game last night. I really couldn't be prouder of this team and more happy we have this coaching staff. I'm extremely confident our program is heading in the right direction.

Frankly, it's teams like this that makes me love being a Cyclone fan. Of course I wish so much that we could have pulled some of these close games out, more for those players than for me, but this team just has the cards stacked against it and it just goes out against some of the most talented teams in the nation and just fights. Love it!

    Nice writeup, Chris.

Y;now, a lot of people were concerned about Fred's lack of experience as a Head Coach. Whether or not that has been an issue certainly seems moot--he's certainly had a great amount of adversity to deal with, and demonstrated an accelerated learning curve,

We have OUR coach and just need a few more good solid players.

My point wasn't to bring up Dendy, my point was to show that even though this team is woefully undermanned, they are very close to having a pretty good record because of their hustle and desire. I should have clarified my point.

This. Freaking THIS. This pisses me off more than no other. How in the eff is aTm and Baylor getting such good players when their fanbase could give two ***** about their program!?

Not to mention that as of last night they were what 17th in the nation? I know that's not #1...but jesus if we were #17 in the nation Hilton would be rocking! Shame on the A&M fans...

Recent history of winning is how they are getting players. The warmer climate doesn't hurt either.

Winning. Also, they are probably having their recruits visit the weekend of big time games where the crowd is going to be larger....
