I don't think any officials will be intimidated by a first year D-I coach. I would prefer that Fred is Fred rather than trying to be someone else. When/if he really blows (as much as Fred Hoiberg will ever blow-up), he will have a reputation for a level head and the officials will be more likely to believe that they really blew the call.

As far as the officiating goes, Texas drew more fouls and deserved to have more calls. However, the disparity was ridiculous. I don't buy the argument that ISU was not aggressive enough, either. I watched Iowa State players, front and back court alike, pass up a jump shot and drive in only to get hacked and no whistle. Obviously ISU was way overmatched and it likely didn't decide the game. However, to say that justice was blind may actually be ironically accurate in this case. Those distributing justice at times did appear to be blind. It was curious that when the game was clearly decided that suddenly ISU got a few calls and shot a few FT's. I don't believe in and am not suggesting a conspiracy, but it was curious.

Hopefully when Fred has ISU consistently in the top half of the conference, he will be getting the calls rather than getting screwed by them.
    This! Absolutely.

Re: Time for Fred to get tossed

    1. You can make a point with a referee many different ways without getting a technical and I think Fred does that. I think as fans, we have frustrations and we want him to get a technical for "us", that would make "us" happy. Faulty logic in my opinion.
    2. Teams that are aggressive to the hoop will get foul calls, as many on here have pointed out, we don't do a bunch of that in our typical game plan.
    3. I have attended every home game but 1, and I have seen some calls I thought were missed, but can't say we have been ripped on by the refs. We are not creating our own breaks in key moments of the game, that has been our downfall, not the refereeing.
Gladly accept the gifts of the present hour.

Re: Time for Fred to get tossed

Anderson was very aggressive going to the hoop. He was fouled multiple times last night on drives and did not get a call until a drive in the final two minutes. Again, last nigh was one of the most one sided games I have seen from an officiating standpoint. The rules were absolutely different for each team.

A coach is suspended for one, or more games if he or she is ejected during a game. Not worth it IMO.

Tim Floyd would never "go nuclear." Except last night.

Yeah, that's a real classy performance on his part. Way to bark at the policeman. Sets a great example for dealing with anger.

I dunno. It was kind of ridiculous that the policeman came out in the first place. It's not like Floyd was waving a gun around. He got ejected from a basketball game. The policeman was a little overzealous there in my opinion.

The ref summoned the policeman, so it isn't that he just came out there.

If the ref assumed that the ejected guy who was still exploding wasn't leaving on his own, I don't have any problem with calling for the policeman to escort him out. Given the way Floyd was giving it to the policeman at first, he didn't look like a guy deliberately selecting his mood or a man with any sort of self-control in the moment.
