Last we would get those 10-15 pts against after halftime and it would be "hear we go again." Now at least I get frustrated at the end of games instead of right after halftime. But I love the effort these guys are giving on the court.
Actually, I think that these losses hurt more this year. But I hurt for the players, not the fans or coaches.
They try their ***** off, but they aren't getting any reward for it. It is a testament to the players, and the coaches, that they haven't totally given up.

I am liking how there is the serious discussion and the SOULja discussion going on in this thread, and they almost alternate off each other! Impressive!

The effort is there, the other team doesn't lay 10 on us coming out of halftime due to our (lack of) adjustments. These losses don't hurt as much.
Imagine this year's effort executed by the returners and redshirts. We won't run the table, but I can see us in the top half, easy. Haven't been there in a while. We've had a few this year...leads going into the final minutes blown to lose in the final seconds or in overtime.

This is really minor league stuff right now.

Freddie will win. He's a natural born leader, and an intense competitor. He will not stop until he gets where he wants to be. I couldn't be more happy with the program in his hands.

No matter the hype, he is still a redshirt freshman. I would rather underhype than over hype the kid. Let him prove it for himself. He's going to have huge pressure on him without us continually fanning the flames. Or by biggest did you mean largest in size??? "There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

It is a lack of experience and talent that is killing us right now, both on the players and coaches side. We have been been beaten because we didn't take TOs when we should have, we didn't draw up an effective play, our players did not execute plays under pressure, and our lack of talented bench players. But as Fred said, the wins will come and I am much happier with this 14-14 teams than any GMac teams because regardless of the score or record these kids play their guts out, and that is exciting to watch. Wow - just when I thought it couldn't get worse than "I rode the pine in high school so I have all-encompassing knowledge about all things basketball" guy, the worse guy shows up. You're ACTUALLY trying to compare playing basketball in the Rec to playing Big 12 caliber basketball?
I guess that means that, because I also played basketball and ran up and down the court all day in the Rec on weekends, that I too was qualified to be a first team all-Big 12 player. Ignore the fact that I was 6'-2", weighed 315 lbs, and my jumper was on the cold side of touchy more often than hot - I could play all day on weekends so that must mean I could play at the same level as those playing here on scholarship.
Wow. Your inference that just because you played "weekend warrior" at the rec in college means that fatigue is a bull**** excuse has to be about the STUPIDEST thing I have ever read on this site, and I myself have said my share of bat-**** crazy things in my 4 years on this site.
Fatigue is a very real thing with this team. We are clearly 1-2 players short of winning a whole lot of games this season, and it's very apparent in our inability to close out games (no matter what "Rec Guy" would have you believe). I am definitely looking forward to next year, because if the hype about the players to be eligible next season is to be believed, it could be one of the quickest turnarounds in the nation.
I do think that Hoiberg is a good coach. But more importantly he's a very SMART coach. Going into this season he obviously knew he had little idea of how to be a Big 12 caliber coach, so he put his ego aside and hired Bobby Lutz, someone that does know how to coach at this level. Hoiberg is getting an education this season from a very good head coach, not just learning from his mistakes. I think this will greatly benefit him in seasons to come.

Re: Fred: "The wins will come... I promise that"
If fatigue is such a big deal how do you explain some of the Duke teams that would play only 7 guys the entire game and their point guard would play 40 minutes, and they won the National Championship doing that?

They are talented enough to dictate tempo. We aren't, and more often than not are playing from behind. It takes more energy trying to keep pace than it does maintaining a 20+ point lead.

Re: Fred: "The wins will come... I promise that"
What if we just "won out?" These final three reg. season games and then the Big 12 Tourney. Then just roll in the dance. This could potentially be the best sports story ever.
Heads would explode across the country. Ha-
Then in the title game against Duke we would have to hear Dickie V talk trash about us.. (*in stupid DV voice: "I really believe that the Dukies are too much for them tonight, the Mayor can't do anything about it, the Hilton Magic dream run is over baby!")..Then suddenly, Johnny Orr just rushes on the court to tell him off and kicks him in the nuts. Again...that would be sweet. (Then I wake up from my dream.)
Go Clones!
