Re: Kale Abrahamson
Looks solid. I could see an offer being made.
If he does grow a few more inches, he would be a very good pick-up.

Re: Kale Abrahamson
Kind of looks like a better Eric McKnight. Can we trade?

With Nick Stauskas going elsewhere, I wonder if he gets an offer? I like his potential.

Re: Kale Abrahamson
To me, he has Doug McD written all over him in the sense that he is a quite beast. We've all pretty much agreed that we'd love to have Doug on our roster and I think this kid could be just as good, maybe better than Doug. All that matters is if the staff offers him or not.

If he ends up 6-7 or 6-8 like Doug, I agree. Better perimeter skills than Doug, but probably less proficient on the block. Imo, he appears to be a better athlete. He has some time to refine his game too.

He and his AAU team are playing in Indy this weekend, so it couls be interesting to see if he picks up any more offers.

Do you guys think Kale is better than Tanner Williams? I lived his video, seems really versatile.

He's a 3 in Fred's system, the 2012 class has other needs. Not only will we be losing Allen and Scottie as SGs but Booker will be a SR and there's a decent chance White would be looking to turn pro leaving us Railey and Godfrey as the only returning Posts. I think we'll sign 2 SGs and a Post. Hopefully Jok in 13 is our next SF signing giving him a year in the system behind Ejim before he becomes a starter.

Re: Kale Abrahamson
I really like this kid. He really handles the ball well for his size and can shoot it. His size and versatility could be a positive on defense too. Alot of kids can shoot it, can handle it, but in order to play in the Big 12 you've got to have the foot speed to go along with it and in person I really thought he has a chance. I'm also old and out of shape so alot of things look quick to me though.
I think the final selling point to our staff on this kid will be his ball handling and shooting ability for his size. I know that college basketball has changed quite a bit in recent years, but I would think that a 6'8-6'10(depending how much he grows) player with his skills is still a luxury.

Re: Kale Abrahamson
I don't think he is big 12 quality so I say pass on him. He does not have enough muscle and weight to make it in the big 12.

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -
Re: Kale Abrahamson
Does he have the quickness to be able to guard the 2 and 3 position?

He is 17 (likely) and growing!! Note the quote from the ESPN scouting profile regarding his growth in the past year:
"Bottom Line:
Kale needs to improve his strength once he finally stops growing. He has grown 3 inches in the last year and could grow a couple more."
Now, he may not be skilled enough, or the coaches decide he does not fit needs/ within the offense. But the excuse "he's not strong enough" is bogus - for any HS big man. How many 6'-7" 17 yr olds do you know that have the body of a major-conf big man? FEW. and if they're skilled enough, they get recruited to the top programs in the country.
