This May Be A Stupid Question
But, is there any way we ever let Lutz be the head coach for one game so he can get his 400th career victory? I think it would be a cool idea and a sign of thanks for him coming to Ames to be a part of the program and mentor Fred in his first few years.
Re: This May Be A Stupid Question
He'll get his 400th head coaching win, it just won't be at Iowa State.

Exactly. He's not too old. He will get another job, assuming the transfers can stay out of trouble, and we see a lot more success the next two years.
Re: This May Be A Stupid Question
Don't expect Lutz to be an assistant coach at ISU for too long.
Re: This May Be A Stupid Question
For some reason I got the impression that he was older and going to be working his way out of coaching.
I hope we see a few years of success, Fred learns all he can from him, then he moves on to find a head coaching job somewhere.
Re: This May Be A Stupid Question
Yeah, I suspect he will be a head coach again soon. He was going to take this year off supposedly before Fred sold him on the idea of coming here.
Great asset and I hope we have him at least another year or 2.
Re: This May Be A Stupid Question
That's a pretty fun idea, really.
He'll get it anyway, but getting it as a Cyclone would be fun, at least to us.

Only 52. I suspect he'll stick around for another year or two when we start kicking *** and taking names and then venture out on his own again.
Re: This May Be A Stupid Question
If you talk to an Iowa fan he is up to 415 after this year.
Re: This May Be A Stupid Question
How much does Lutz make at ISU? I would imagine his assistant's salary at ISU would be more than a lot of the smaller schools, but the guy does have enough of a resume where if our team is even decent for a few years, he's going to get a pretty enticing offer.
